And how is that any different than Tebow doing the "look at me pray" schtick. It's all narcissistic showboating.
 Yes in a game where players flail about uncontrollably for the smallest of accomplishments, including those by others... it is rivaled by Boom taking a knee in the endzone.

 You make no sense whatsoever. You simply have no understanding of the culture he comes from, and since you do not, you attribute negative motives to him (that are not true btw) because of that deep unfamiliarity.

It is interesting that your biggest problem with him is that he is a devout and open Christian. Your loathing of his openly religious persona is palpable. I get that you don't buy into his beliefs - neither do I, really - but the fact that he wants to drop and pray at the drop of a hat is how he was raised. That really is not his "fault", as it were, or him saying "Look at me - I'm so better than you 'cause I'm all religious like!!!" like you think.

He thanks God for giving him the ability to make a play, and for giving him his opportunities. I have not read one article from one source where he says God is making his plays for him.

Jeeze, I'd hope the Supreme Being would be able to throw a tighter spiral.

I'm curious what the reaction would be if someone was openly atheist, but still a fantastic human and average football player with the clutch gene.

Would he start interviews with "First, l'd like to say that there is no supernatural being in the sky guiding our lives....shout out to Jake......and that religion is silly, but what a great team win, we believe in each other - unlike some all-powerful sky Genie!"?

I hope, that would be hilarious.

"First, I'd like to not thank God. Without him nothing would be different than it is now. Second, I love my team."

I just think people get tired of having religion shoved in their faces. I feel like if God is real that he has more important things to worry about than ol' Timmy beating the Steelers. I get the annoyance with it.

Who does not?

But to find his displays of faith more worthy of scorn than the guys having 10 kids with 8 girlfriends - or the guys with arrests for any number of stuff but who don't push their religion in our face - is baffling to me. Those other guys hurt people's lives for a generation or more. Nobody seems to even give a shit about that, yet they hate Tim.

With Tim, turn the channel or hit the mute button and everyone's life is right where is was before with no harm done.

If he we didn't have to try really hard to avoid Tebow coverage, it would surely be different.

I agree with your points.

I am a Christian but I BELIEVE if my God was so inclined to favor a football player..his team would be at least 12-4..

FWIW, those of us who believe have been instructed to witness for others. Tebow isn't particularly "in your face" with his witnessing considering his potential platform. Frankly, it's pretty mellow.

And I missed this one. Pittsburgh's Mayor Luke Ravenstahl had to put on a Tebow jersey on and "Tebow" after losing a bet with Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock.
