There's also the question of how much upside he has as a prospect. Defenses caught up to him as his career progressed and his numbers plateaued as a sophomore. Great college player but how much better can he become as a passer?

His foot speed proved to be more average in the last few years and he will not enjoy the same big edge in strength at the next level when taking on LBs & safeties.
Needs the right system. He'd of done great in the old Niner's offense. Montana did not have a gun, and he rarely threw a pass more than twenty yards in the old West Coast Offense.
Great is a bit overstated. His accuracy is questionable, his release is very long, and his footwork is not very good. The footwork can be improved, but QB coaches have been working with Tim for awhile on the first two. My guess is they tried to change his throwing motion last spring (unless of course UF lied :p) and he regressed as a passer so they scrapped it. Many QBs are stubbornly tied to their throwing motion, as much physically as anything.
He has the size and strength to be successful ( pardon me, but he has large hands to grip the ball and a strong arm - four years of actual football mean more than some twitter about no arm strength)
No offense gator, but his arm strength concerns have been evident throughout senior bowl workouts and a concern (for nfl scouts) while he was at Florida.

There's a big difference between a good college arm and the same description in the NFL. Troy had a gun in college but compared to NFL signal callers it's quite average.
and more importantly he has an almost obsessive drive to succeed. Nobody will outwork him. Nobody will out study him. His teammates will like him, he can participate in special teams and wildcat situations, he will bring in ticket sales.
This is his best attribute and will likely lead to a solid career even if he never becomes starter material at QB.

Here is what Cleveland Browns president Mike Holmgren said about Tim Tebow:

"Clearly, he's a special young man. I got a chance to visit with him for the
first time and I thought he worked very very hard. You can tell he's trying
to make adjustments to his motion. That seems to be what people are
fired up about, and he's working very hard to do that. and it showed
today. I thought he had a pretty good workout.

It appears to be that he's made some adjustments in a very short period
of time, and he's got good guys working with him. I would say this,
though. If you look hard enough at anybody - we can be really picky about
stuff. You've got to be careful about losing sight of the big picture and
what kind of a player he is, what kind of a winner he is and what kind of a
person he is. There's a lot of good about this young man. We'll see how it goes.

You do realize that part of the expansion team agreement was that they would annually draft one enemy of Ohioans?

Braylon Edwards - does this really need an explanation?
Kellen Winslow - a year after the NC clash where he carved us up, and half a year after the infamous solja comments.
Brady Quinn - domers are hated slightly less than wolverines, but enjoy about 1% of the respect given to our UM rivals.

The Colts spoiled their plan to take Mike Hart in the 7th round.

I loved when people were touting the arm strength and size of Jamarcus Russell a few years ago. That setup the Raiders to blow another first round pick in a hurry. Russell may be able to throw the ball 2000 yards while in a lounge chair, but obviously he lacks the intelligence and work ethic to be a great pro QB.

Arm strength doesn't mean all that much if theres no receivers that can really stretch that defense. Arm strength only really matters if you're talking about velocity on a throw, and you need the accuracy to back that up. Honestly haven't seen that much of Tim to say one way or another.

Rather than start a new thread about the UF pro day, Aaron Hernandez and David Nelson had great workouts. Nelson especially had a great work out, running a 4.45 in bad conditions, which is fast for a 6'5" guy weighing over two hundred. Spikes is just not that fast. Third rounder? Spikes did not show well in drills either, Doe reportedly looked better (quicker and flexible), and might get a free agent/scout team look see.

Joe Haden had a slightly faster time that at the combine (he ran a 4.57 at the combine) so his stock is back up a little and I'm sure that reassures some GMs who were worried about his speed. Along with the faster time the scouts said they needed to take .05 off everybody for the rain and field conditions.

Basically, I think that everyone thinking of drafting Tim was happy, and no one deciding not to had their minds changed. I predict he goes to New England in the second round.

Unless Brady is retiring very soon, that seems like a pretty huge gamble. Take a HOF QB off the field to run some trick plays which have had very mild success in the league?

You do realize who Tebow is right? He can water into wine and use "Jedi mind tricks" to tell Tom Brady to retire.

He can also instruct GM's in their dreams to draft him early.

I also predict you will apologize for your lack of faith by sending me a lobster and Kobi beef filet care package - along with 18 year old scotch and thirty year old Bordeaux. :p

Tebow's community service doesn't count for shit. Give him a fucking community service award.

BTW, I calculated those 700 hours and not allotting any of it to August-December, it still works out to less than 25 hours a week. There are literally tens of thousands of students at good, challenging universities who work 25 hours a week to pay for their college while challenging themselves in majors far more consuming than home ec.

Not when you throw in the time demands of being a top D1 football player.

Tebow should be #1 overall if you believe this guy:

BLOG: Tebow updates at Florida Pro Day - NFL News - FOX Sports on MSN

11:40 a.m. -- There hasn't been a misfire yet. Scouts ask for more work, and boom! Another perfect bomb to Hernandez.

11:36 a.m. -- Tebow to Hernandez on deep seam route ... Great route by Aaron ... Mike Holmgren had a great seat for that throw.

11:35 a.m. -- Tebow hits Cooper on a 45 yard post ... Cooper never breaks stride. Then, right away, he hits Nelson on the same route but opposite side of the field ... in stride.

11:33 a.m. -- Crowd appears to be 3,000 now, and they are cheering every throw. Tebow is really hitting the long out routes. I have to think this is an impressive performance following up a great combine showing.

11:29 a.m. -- He has been on the money on every throw so far. He's hitting the receivers in stride. Tebow is clearly holding the ball higher. He hasn't changed his delivery so much but he's not looping down to his waist on his throws. Tom Coughlin is front and center to watch.

11:28 a.m. -- Tim has obviously done a lot of work on his backpedal, and he looks like a total different player dropping back. Very quick with his feet. Very impressive.

11:25 a.m. -- And so it begins. Tebow is already doing very well in his throws. I heard one scout say "Wow" when Tebow improvised a run after a fake pass rush and threw on a dime 30+ yards down the field.
