Complete lunacy.Helwagen (sp?) on 1410 WING said to look for the President of Youngstown St. to be a candidate. His reasoning is the show cause ends next year and the President likes to tour former players of his around YSU football practice in a golf cart. He cited Teddy G. and other former Tar Blooder's were there recently and he had the look in his eyes that he misses the game.
People have been saying that forever, and outside of a small window of quasi-relevency in the early nineties, and a couple of fluke seasons in 2001 & 2007, they've always been a dogshit program, and always will be.Illinois should be a pretty good job. With the BTN/BIG revenue, I think this is the time for Illinois to throw the money at a coach who can recruit and consistently bring some of the Chicago talent downstate.
Let's list the 10-win seasons in Illinois football history:People have been saying that forever, and outside of a small window of quasi-relevency in the early nineties, and a couple of fluke seasons in 2001 & 2007, they've always been a dog[Mark May] program, and always will be.
Their best course of action would probably be to go the juggalo route and hire some semi-successful retread that's just been canned and is looking for another chance.
To be fair, they did own us from 1988 to 1994, going 6-1 against us, including five straight which is still their longest winning streak against us...They need to get someone in there that 'gets it' about the Illibuck. The rivalry just hasn't been the same since.....well, ever...

The Illibuck Trophy was started in 1925. Ohio State played Illinois in the last game of the season from 1919-1930 ('31 was Minnesota for some reason) and in 1932-1933.To be fair, they did own us from 1988 to 1994, going 6-1 against us, including five straight which is still their longest winning streak against us...

Illini is basketball first..always has been..they need a new AD..Who could rebuild Illinois...in a fantasy land JT as AD. Fickell as head coach. It would take this to even give Illinois a chance at football..their only saving grace is that they are in the western division.
