Tim Beckman (you're fired!)

Or they were going to fire him anyway and the investigation gave them a nice excuse to do so in a way that 1) doesn't disrupt their season too much (assuming they name a somewhat competent interim coach) and gives them a ton of extra time to look for a replacement and 2) leaves them not owing him anything off his contract.

Another interesting thought, obviously the guy was an incredibly bad head coach, but he had a pretty stellar reputation as a DC who was even rumored to be a top target for the staff being put together by Meyer before he took the Illinois job IIRC.

Most people expect Ash to move on sooner rather than later... could Beckman be a possibility to replace Ash now?

Or will he be untouchable after this investigation?

What? What serious person had him as a DC candidate back then? He was an ascending head coach at the time - I don't recall him being considered for a move that would've been a step down. I'm open to being proven wrong if there's a source for this outside of idle speculation that some blogger might have come up with to fill space.

Now that he's out of a job though - no way would Ohio State be looking at him if an opening camp up. I don't believe Meyer tolerates that kind of baggage and Ohio State is not in a position where they'd need to make that sort of compromise.

I'd say he's pretty untouchable right now. Potential lawsuits in play and then trying to influence the medical staff is a huge no no let alone trying to influence kids.

I don't recall the "pretty stellar reputation as a DC" theory. He seemed like a guy that always fell up into better gigs. He's not one of those Will Muschamp types who you do whatever you need to make him the DC.

And also, untouchable, as he probably should be.
