Thread of What You've Eaten, Cooked and/or Drunk Lately

Is that your own Dijon sage cream sauce recipe or do you have on that you would recommend? Did a slow roasted pork loin and parm crusted potatoes and that sauce would have been bomb with it.
Just a basic pan sauce.

Deglaze with some form of booze (I used dry vermouth in this case)
Reduce it down
Add some stock
Reduce that down
Add cream, Dijon and sage and some salt
Reduce down until it coats the back of a spoon.

I don't really follow a strict recipe foe this kind of pan sauce anymore. Just follow the basic techniques and eyeball things.

Been going back to basics as far as eating goes, braised beef and root vegetables. I made a pot roast out of bottom round, just a change of pace from my usual chuck roast. Now I remember why chuck is the best roast, bottom round has almost no fat and although it came out very tender is almost tasteless and dry

Any fans of Buc-ee's out there? I must admit when I first heard about it, I was thinking who would want to eat gas station food?

Well the food is damn good. Brisket sandwiches are my faveView attachment 38677

oh yeah, their briskets are on point.

and don’t knock gas station food.
Stripes in Texas has the best Barbacoa tacos around.

south Louisiana you can get Poboys made with fresh shrimp straight off the boat.

and because we don’t have much in the way of laws when it comes to Alcohol, you can buy whiskey, gas, PoBoys, your groceries, fishing tackle, bait, all at the same stop.

I noticed this one time when I was in Texas that some of the best BBQ was at the gas stations. You could get your BBQ, beans, Mac n cheese, some beer, and of course gas.
