Thread of What You've Eaten, Cooked and/or Drunk Lately

Mediterranean lamb which is a leg of lamb rubbed with salt, pepper, lemon zest and rosemary with chunks of garlic shoved down into the meat. I going to sous vide it for about 6 hours and then finish it up the broiler. The sides are all my wife's requests, it's what her mother always made for Christmas . Mashed potatoes and gravy, cornbread stuffing and creamed spinach. Got some fresh berries and Stilton for dessert.
hmmm, may have to try something like that one day.

my family heritage is from the Mediterranean coast of France, so i can always claim that’s why im doing it.

so what is everyone’ holiday menu?
Christmas Eve is with my moms side of the family, traditionally appetizer/grazing… bacon wrapped water chestnuts, bacon wrapped chicken bites, shrimp cocktail, stuffed mushrooms, stuffed jalapeños, maybe one spiral ham with some Kings Hawaiian rolls.

Christmas morning/brunch is with my dad’s side of the family… prime rib, fried potatoes, sausage gravy & biscuits, sausage egg and cheese casserole, and quiche. Something for adults and the kids.

Christmas night is with my wife’s family, and that is always lasagna. Her dad made an awesome lasagna. RIP. Her mom has carried on the tradition, but that woman can’t cook for shit. I don’t know how you fuck up lasagna noodles, ground beef/Italian sausage, marinara, and a blend of Italian cheeses, but god damn if my mother in law hasn’t fucking perfected it. I mean, who the fuck puts cheddar cheese instead of ricotta into a lasagna? It’s an abomination to all that’s Holy.

Went to Texas de Brazil for the first time yesterday. I’m not sure how close to a Brazilian churrascaria the place is, but if you want to eat a ton of meat they will accommodate you. They come by with meat on skewers and slice it onto your plate. I had filet mignon, filet wrapped in bacon, top sirloin, spicy sirloin, flank steak, some other steak, pork tenderloin, pork ribs, lamb shank, and a couple types of chicken. Repeated several of the steak items. And our table of 8 still managed to consume 5 desserts.

I was a guest of my in-laws on Xmas so I didn't have to bring a thing (except an appetite).

My sister and her fiancé and my parents are all gonna be here and we're gonna do presents Part 2 with xmas dinner on the. 28th.

I'm making:

Pork Medallions with Mustard Sauce
Scalloped potatoes
Green Beans and Mushrooms

Mishmash of Xmas cookies

Four or Five Years ago - I took my wife and kids to the local fall festival.
I made a point to sign up for every stupid raffle and ended up winning a $100 gift certificate to Fogo de Chao in downtown Cincinnati.

It went out of business three weeks later and I was devastated.

There's one in Scottsdale but I've never gone. A coworker went once and told me the place was full and they were understaffed but the food was good.
