Thread of What You've Eaten, Cooked and/or Drunk Lately

So, I bought a pellet smoker. Any thoughts from those who have one?
Love mine… had one for like 5 years now. I know its looked down upon in the smoker community but man the set and forget temp, mine has wifi… I was in the middle of smoking a couple pork shoulders and we had to leave and go some place… soon as I got the alert that the temp was hit .. boom powered it off, shoulders were good.

I don't have one, but I do have a gas camp chef after multiple charcoal units and I will say I use the gas one a lot more because you just turn it on

For example tomorrow you should make some bacon on your pellet stove. No, really, you want it.

Buddy of mine has one- it's perfect for him as he really isn't interested in the learning curve of using charcoal, managing the vents, etc. And it can make some damn fine bbq.

I'm on the other end of the smoker spectrum- I use a Weber kettle grill and have tried every kind of charcoal imaginable.

My only complaint (and this could be my buddy and not the Traeger) is that his food isn't very smoky.

My first smoker was an electric one. It was OK. I still have it, in fact. I use it like an indoor stove these days, which is what it is. Anyway, the difference in smoke seems to be whether it is generated by combustion or not. The electric one I have does not produce a combustion smoke so the smoke flavor is very light. I'm not sure how pellate smokers do, but I am all but certain they provide a better smoke than an electric.

These days I'll use wood to smoke until a crutch is needed (if needed) and then finish in the electric. I like the temperature control the electric provides when the smoke matters less.
