Well most people are dead. I don't think the ones who survived are the ones who went to board meetings and organized charity drives.

What the fuck was that pseudo-fascist police-state bullshit? There have been some terribly dull and awfully written episodes over the last couple years, but that might be the worst.

It was a very, very, VERY weak and cheap ripoff of Saramago's "Blindness"....complete with hospital and rapists. I agree, weak as fuck.

I'm not sure that I ever cared enough about Beth's charector invest an entire 60 minutes into what happened her. The fact that they spent an entire episode on this leads me to beleive we will be hanging out in the hospital for awhile.

Therein lies part of the problem, her character has never done anything to distinguish itself...they sort of tried and failed miserably with her and Darryl, to the point that the only thing people were talking about is whether he is gay because he didn't try to jump her bones. They've thrown a few one-liners in (her boyfriend was killed on a run and she was like, I don't miss him, I was glad he was here, or whatever it was) but the contrast between Maggie's passion...be it love, lust, anger, whatever, we've seen it all since she was introduced...and Beth's cold callousness has only served to make Maggie a favorite and a mainstay and to leave Beth almost completely one-dimensional. If she had been turned into Beth-ka-bobs by the Termites...would the show have suffered, or even changed, any? At this point she, as you allude to, is more of a plot device (an excuse to focus on Atlanta again) than a meaningful character. If there are any ER fans out there, she is sort of the Dave Malucci of TWD...her appearances aren't especially important, you always know what you're going to get from her, and she has little depth. They may change that. If, for example, they are going to knock off Maggie, they will need to replace her with another strong female. Beth would be a logical choice, but given the fact she's been around so long and thus has generated a general lack of give-a-shit-ness from the audience, they may have lost their opportunity to expand her role any. She doesn't have hardcore "Go-Away" heat like Lori, and at her end, Andrea, had, but she is not consequential, either.

Yes, given the way Darryl acted, I don't think it could be anyone else. It's obviously not Carol or Beth, and even these writers aren't random and stupid enough to make it Morgan out of the clear blue. I don't see how it could be anyone else after the last episode.

I'm guessing Daryl and Carol were watching the hospital during the escape and saw Beth help him get out. Carol decided to go undercover in the hospital while Daryl took the dude back to the church to get help.
Really going to suck if next week is 100% about the group going to DC and we have to wait 2 weeks to get back to the church. TWD could learn from GoT and weave the stories together a little better rather than going off on tangents for a week or two at a time, but as I said before it might have more to do with cost than product over at AMC.

Who is JTW?
Well I completely agree that focusing on one group/one character at a time drives me insane...weave in the plots and follow more than one group per episode. They did this crap all of last year and it was so slow. Then throw in the fact what's been stated re: Beth not being all that interesting and a whole hour there was way too much. Personally I am fine with the group being back around Atlanta if that is to happen for a limited time but I am not really all that interested in the hospital, except what happened to Carroll. The first 3 episodes were awesome because they gave us quick development and tons of action, so it is not really surprising they slowed it down for episode 4. Not every episode can be climactic, although there needs to be more development than what happened Sunday.
The rapists and cannibals...pretty believable to me. There is quite the lack of females, let alone good looking ones like Beth...we have a disturbingly high amount of sexual assaults when there are laws against it with harsh consequences, yet even Jameis Winston resorts to it with plenty of girls at his disposal. In a lawless society with limited girls, I'm a little surprised we haven't seen more rapes yet to be honest. To that point, they have even softened that aspect considering they haven't alluded to girls much younger than Beth (she is about 18 per the show timeline I think). And the cannibals are a little harder to believe but I suppose if you are out there starving (what Garreth alluded to with Rick), then one might resort to it and stick with it out of convenience eventually (see the Donner family). And really, the whole group-think psychology checks out even in civilized society for the depraved acts (gang rape, genocide, etc.).
As to the trip to DC...that could definitely be something that would warrant an entire season/most of a season considering it is nearly an 11 hour drive without miles of piled up cars, zombies, and other groups of people foraging around along the way. Not to mention once they get there it is going to be overrun. At this point, getting out of Atlanta with a cognizable goal other than "survive" will be interesting enough to me pending the execution by the directors, which is obviously a huge wildcard. I am interested to see what comes along the way and how other groups in other states have adapted. All this being said, the hunters story arc ended way too abruptly for my liking...hopefully there are still some out there because that was by far the most intriguing storyline to me of the series.

Gotcha. I think who Darryl has could be Beth or Carroll, the chronology was not entirely clear on when this all went down...but I tend to think it is him. And I think they are saving Morgan for a little later, which is another development I am looking forward to.

I wasn't wild about last weeks episode until we saw Carol at the end. And now I am intrigued as to who is with Daryl and what he's been up to if it was at the hospital or with Noah or even Morgan. I don't know if Beth has caught on yet or not but it was clear in the parking lot that the hospital people were the one who "savenapped" her. But she does seem to be putting it together that the hospital people aren't who she wants to be with.
I have been wondering for sometime now why nobody has called Eugene's bullshit on the whole cure thing. Season 1/2 a huge part of the story was the CDC and what Dr. Jenner told Rick. All of Rick's group, original ones at least, know that they all carry it. Why wouldn't mullet genius know this?

I forget that these boards actually have discussions outside of sports.
Anyway, threads like these make me wary when browsing... I've been very careful not to over-read the comics so the TV show still surprises me, but like most things even the smallest statements can be big hints when someone has that forward info. That being said, I think it's almost assuredly Noah that's with Daryl. The whole chronological juxtaposition thing they like to do when stories overlap throws me off sometimes, but I can't imagine it being anyone else.
