The Walking Dead (Official Thread)

So do we assume this group turns around and heads back to the church?

That is my issue with the early revelation...I think it is a safe assumption they head back to the church. Not sure if they meet up along the way, at the church, or not at all though. I'm guessing it will be at the church considering we know that Rick sees Darryl there after the whatever happens at the hospital.

Everyone seems to be assuming they will dispose of the hospital contingent at midseason and move on...but with a season 6 already up, I could see them actually dragging it out all season as well. I seriously hope not, but if it takes one or two episodes for Rambo, hotass, and Glenaggie to get back, and it takes one episode to set up Carol and Darryl, and another...

BTW, who is the next major character to get whacked? Time for a thread pool. Personally, I get the sense they like whacking optimists (like Bob)...and since Maggie was once a show fixture but has gotten the T-Dog treatment of late, I think it could be her.

My guess is Carol or Beth, or the chick that kept Fake Scientists secret about putting glass in the gas tank a secret.
I don't think they'll knock of Carol, she is one of the 4-5 characters that makes it worth watching and has any depth. The other chick they done a lot with this season, so I don't think they'll build her up for a quick offing. Beth is definitely possible, though they've teased her death so many times, I wonder if it will just be a running "Kill Kenny" kind of thing after a while.

Hence my sarcasm font on "shocker" Actually, I wish they would have dragged out Mullet boys lie just so they could finally gtf out of Georgia and see what else is going on. You know that they are just going to keep hovering around the same damn area for the rest of the season. And as mentioned above, the mid-season finale will be a house-clearing by Darryl and Carroll of the hospital ala Terminus, then likely a near-complete reunion that leaves a couple characters stranded somewhere to hold our interest. Rinse. Wash. Repeat.

Even though this was another boring episode, at least it developed some character background and advanced the story...this episode was kind of necessary to set up the rest of the season. And I'm not positive Abrams is a "murderer" per se...I thought at first that he encountered a couple bad eggs in the super market and killed them to protect his wife and kids. But considering him beating Eugene to death or near death, you can tell his family ran away because of his anger issues...guessing he didn't have to beat that guy to death with canned goods. I mean, he only believed Eugene out of purposeful ignorance after seeing his family dead...he had to know that day was coming. Oh and btw...these convos between Maggie and Glenn seem to be setting up one of them being offed. They really don't do much for me anymore, so I don't care if they do.

maybe a spoiler....

i know this from reading the comics and from watching TTD with Abe.....

the flashbacks are of him beating to death the 4 men (his neighbors and friends who had banded together at a grocery store in Houston after the apocalypse started) who had raped his ex wife and daughter while his son had to watch while Abe was out on a supply run. they see Abe do the deed and then his ex wife takes off in the night and they get eaten. In the comics Abe actually has to put down his daughter after she attacks him

It's Tara. Mark that shit.

You develop your character, you risk your life.

She had more meaningful lines in that previous episode than she's had pretty much all season.

I'm purposefully not reading the comics until the show is over just so I can read it with different expectations. I don't mind reading the potential "spoilers" because they apparently diverge from the comics in the actual show. And it is really a complete gut feeling...in the same vein, who was the last main character to die? Bob does not count and I was fine to see him go. Was it Hershel? Obviously the Governor went in that episode as well, but I am thinking the core group...but really, either one. Garreth was sort of a main guy but only for a few episodes. By the mid-season, you would have to think one more is going soon. And honestly, I am ok with them delaying it...it used to be that a main character would get offed almost every week, so this allows development and keeps you on your heels.

I started reading the comics after finishing the second season of the show. I stopped reading them when the stories from the comics started beginning arcs that enveloped "current" events on the show. I just recently went back and began reading again from where I left off until I reached a similar point of reference. What I have noticed is that since the new writing staff took over, the feel of the show is a lot more in tune with Kirkman's original story. I think there's a lot of value in reading the comics if you're really interested in the Kirkman universe, as I am.

It's interesting to see how certain show characters evolved from various comic characters and how certain events get the story to the same place in different ways.

Not a bad episode all in all. I'm assuming they didn't intend the Carroll saying that Sophia thing to be a "reveal"...that was already basically known. Figured they would cross paths with Noah and team up for the hospital. A little surprised that Carroll was in the hospital after being ran over.
