The Walking Dead (Official Thread)

Right, but the prison was just silly. You had grown folks acting like they were on vacation insstead of reinforcing the fence that somehow kept crazed full bodied maniacs in but couldn't keep lumbering, limping slow moving dead [Mark May] out.
This season has been awesome so far, but for me, it might be too late.
Well, in their defense, the original plan was for them to only be at the prison for a few episodes, but the set ended up being so expensive that they stayed longer to get their money's worth  So, I think they were making it up as they went, on the fly...sort of a 1999-2000 WCW kind of thing.

The slow episodes just drive me crazy and make me want to turn it off or at least watch it recorded so I don't have the commercials to deal with also. Last season had too many slow episodes. That would be a deal killer for me. I wouldn't watch it every Sunday night.

Well you would also think they want to head north just to have slower walkers...the ones in Georgia with SEC speed are tough. In fact, I have 3 out of 4 walker packs in the south as my top overall nationally.
Didn't you hear? Northern Walkers are moving South...it's the relentless 5-10% that ruin it.

There are several smallish islands just off the coast of Georgia. St. Simons, Little St. Simons, Jekyll. There are also car and RV dealerships all over America. Georgia included. Each one, even after the apocalypse, would have to have at least a few brand new vehicles. Some may even have fuel still. Besides the show constantly breaking it's own rules since season two, it's really hard to imagine no one has wanted to get to a coastal island, barricade the bridge, and clear the island. They could actually have a pretty normal existence.

This. Also, unlimited food source so they could stop all the whining about food and having to eat rancid canned foods from flooded pantries.

Well, color me 100% completely unimpressed by this new angle, and the new "group". Personally I think the show took about 100 steps back from being as good as it has ever been this season so far. So what do we have...a murdering female Nurse Ratched who turns a blind eye to gang rape to keep her "men" in line? And said men, who are completely subservient as long as they have somewhere uninvited to stick their dick? If the feminists aren't already complaining, the audience should be, because the writers basically flipped us the double bird. Are we really supposed to believe that this "group" will be any match for Rick et al. should they decide to make an appearance? Does anyone really think that a couple of horny, brain-dead cops, a pussy doctor, and a leader in complete denial of reality are any kind of threat? Really?

Maybe I am overreacting based on the quality of the season so far, but if the fucking Hunters can't take out any of Rick's people, what in the Sam Hell are these assclowns going to be able to do? It's like Woodbury, only without any characters that are interesting or with any depth. Hopefully this is a hit and run and we don't have to sit through an entire season, or even half a season, of these asshats.

The Hunters was going to be the best storyline Walking Dead had going for it this season, imo. It was a great angle in the comics, but they almost ended it too soon imo. This hospital arc is new and original in contrast to the comics, but I agree...it's somewhat 100 steps backwards. It felt slow and shitty. It was interesting seeing Atlanta again, however brief it was, but I feel like they probably could have done the Beth episode in half an hour if they really wanted to.

Unless the writers pull a gem out, I'm not expecting much good to happen until they get to DC.

And of course, now that they have one group in DC, one group in a church in the middle of nowhere, and one group in a hospital in ATL...we're going to go entire epsidoes without being updated on 2 of the 3 groups. I'll be very disappointed if they give us those first few really good episodes, only to fall back on their tricks of slowing it down by devoting 20 minutes worth of story to an hour of air time. All the while, flashing HEY SATELLITE SUBSCRIBERS!!!! YOU MIGHT MISS OUT ON THE WALKING DEAD!!!

No shit. I missed out on it all last season when you gave me 1 episode worth of quality in an entire season worth of quantity.

No [Mark May]. I missed out on it all last season when you gave me 1 episode worth of quality in an entire season worth of quantity.
Yeah I've seen most public reviews of last night allude to this as well...every episode will now be focused on one group or the other. I don't know if they save costs filming it that way or what, but it is really, really annoying. Plus, why devote an entire hour to a secondary character like Apocalypse Barbie anyway? She's never really added anything meaningful to the show, other than being Maggie's sister (and an attractive blonde in the wake of Andrea, I guess). If she doesn't become a major focus of the show going forward, and if her character doesn't develop more in some way, then this entire story arc is useless. It's also going to delay Rick et al. from heading to DC, which could bog the show down even further.

Not good last night guys, not good at all.

But...."This is the best season yet!"~All the writers and actors prior to the season. Yeah, it would have been nice if they actually kept most of the group intact now that they were back together. I think they prefer to keep multiple arcs going, but if they had just one large group it might cut down on the drama since it's easier for the large group to solve problems they're faced with. It does suck when an entire episode (Or sometimes more) gets dedicated to one character. I guess they felt like we didn't get enough Beth last season.

As far as the Direct TV stuff and AMC, I wouldn't worry about it. Had the same issue with my Dish Network a few years ago, and when they renegotiated I think AMC replayed all the missed episodes for Dish customers.

I suppose this is also a good time to point out my fear that since they have already been renewed for season 6...I fear that Rick and whoever is left will be walking/riding into DC at the end of Season 5, a la Terminus...I fear it will drag out that long. The other group will get there at the mid-point break, bad shit will happen to them in an episode or 2 before we leave them, and then the second half will be Rick's journey there. I hope I am wrong, but I see this Atlanta detour and just that..a significant detour.
