The Walking Dead (Official Thread)

I'm telling myself I'm done with this show. We'll see if that changes next Sunday, but this show is now officially a waste of my time.

The last two episodes after coming back from a mid-season break have taught us this in 2 hours....

- Michonne's background story, well, some of it, a little of it at least
- Rick was somehow in a mini coma after being beaten
- Carl likes pudding
- Tyrese hates little kids
- Little kids are psycho
- Carol is still psycho

Nothing has developed, nothing has happened. Now we have some new enforcerer figures coming along to create tension in the group.....same cycle, rinse and repeat.

she started crying and then laughing after she killed that last Walker on the bus. I didn't think we were led to believe she thought it was Glen.
Well no, that's what I mean, she did a good job of revealing the answer in her reaction...but it was meant to be a dramatic moment that they made sure wasn't already. The drama was in the buildup to whether he was on the bus or not...which we already knew he wasn't, because we hadn't seen the scene with him in the preview yet.

true. But there could have been a reveal of Glenn dead on the bus and then a flashback to how it happened that included the scene the showed in the preview. Granted, that's clinging to some sort of thought process the writers have, which we're not all sure about
Oh I think we're pretty sure they don't have one

I mean yeah, it could have been I guess, but there is no precedent for that kind of advanced plotting, at least since season 1/first half of season 2.

So, very much like Season 2, when they would meander out and poke around in the bushes for Sophia, go home and have friend chicken dinners, talk, talk some more, do several irrational things, talk, blah blah. It felt to me like nothing happened most of that year, either.

(And it drove me nutz that Carol's daughter was supposedly lost in the zombie-filled woods, yet she found time to sit around, help with the laundry, etc. If it was your kid, would you even take time to sleep while you searched incessantly for her? She just kinda went Oh, well...Guess she'll turn up...or not...whatever.)

I'm dumping my cable today, so I won't be watching. But, I'll enjoy reading everyone else's reviews of the episodes. :)

Yeah, they definitely were sitting ducks with a crying baby. It is one of the more interesting survivalist angles...cuz like, what would you do to try and keep it quiet?

Yeah but I am actually intrigued by the story arch with Carrol, Tyrese, the girls and the baby. Just a really odd assortment of characters that could be interesting.

So....did anyone think anything actually happened in this episode? What I got was an hour of Michonne and Karl discussing things we already knew, and a guy who looks like he should be an Elvis impersonator/playing with Georgia Satellites/WWE enhancement talent saying he magically knows what caused the zombie apocalypse and how to stop it...but he has somehow managed to survive for years during said zombie apocalypse despite not knowing to point a machine gun away from a gas tank. That about cover it?

Don't forget the two dudes wrestling. One kills the other then takes a well deserved nap. No knowledge of how zombies are made. Then the zombie gets busy at the perfect moment, somehow surprising everyone, for Rick to see Michonne and Carl and avoid any danger.

Don't forget the fact that Rick and the dude on the shitter had a drag-out complete with banging into stuff, crashing, and slamming into a door...yet the guy in the next room and tennis ball dude apparently just didn't notice.

They talked about this on the Talking Dead, but I think the dude that went down in the fight over the bed didn't die. They think it was a Sleeper Hold ala Rowdy Roddy Piper, so he's still alive. I'd have to go back and watch that part though. Seems a bit odd, even in this fictional zombie apocalypse, that a dude is going to kill another dude over a bed...especially if they're essentially on the same side. It does sound like that the guy Rick choked out died though, I think he was the walker that came back at the end. Theres also the fact that in the Talking Dead "In Memorial" I don't think they included the guy that went down over the bed, they only included "Bad Guy on the Toilet."

Yeah, I'm willing to believe a lot of BS this show will throw at me for entertainment purposes, but this one left me scratching my head. Obviously at least one of the other two guys are still in the house at the time, so they should have heard it. It's not like theres a lot of traffic or activity outside/inside the house that would distract you from the noise, it's basically complete silence everywhere. Did they think he was just flailing around, straining on the pot?

I've definitely liked the last two episodes compared to the first one one that started this half of the season. I'm not saying they were great, but they're better than what we got two weeks ago. I liked the tense situation with Rick under the bed, that part left me on the edge of my seat. I gotta say, the pink room was a bit freaky too...a little disturbing that they all decided to kill themselves in that room given the others that were available. I thought the painting was an excellent job too, although it kind of set you up for the creepy vibe that was coming.

As far as the Glen/Abraham story arc, I was the least bit interested in that one, especially after Glen decided to go after Maggie. I surely didn't expect him to choose otherwise, but I think the fact it was predictable is what bored me. I do think Abraham could be a good character going forward. He kind of reminds me of a cross between Motorhead's Lemmy and Captain America. I'm guessing that his sidekick, Mullet Science Boy with Bad Aim, doesn't really have a clue how to save the world, but Abraham seems like the gullible type. I'm guessing Mullet Man heard some things on the airwaves as they mentioned, and that's enough for Abraham to go on and believe they've got all the answers. Then theres Abraham's woman, and she ain't too shabby

The guy that got choked out didn't die. I think he just passed out because he was still breathing after he went out (or at least it looked it to me). The struggle in the bathroom was baffling to me also but the guy sleeping didn't wake up from getting yelled at so I can buy him waking up...and the people downstairs weren't alarmed when the other two guys were wrestling then so I can also buy that. However, NOTHING happened in this episode at all so it was still bad IMO.
