The Walking Dead (Official Thread)

I thought it was a really good episode. I'm sure it's easier to have an interesting episode when it's focused on the better characters and actors....Morgan & Carol are at the top as far as characters go, and Lenny James is great. But it was still really good.

I thought that was one of the better episodes in awhile. Kind of pissed off they killed Richard though, I was starting to get into his character and wanted to see him be part of the fight. I do get it though, the Saviors needed to "believe" that The Kingdom was going to behave in the future to trick them...that likely worked. It is going to be really interesting to see Carroll back in the fold fighting, as well as Morgan.

I thought it was a fantastically executed episode that was diminished some by the lazy writing. Morgans story arc has been butchered so badly that they leave him being unable to decide whether he's Ghandi or Richard Longshanks. Him going over the edge should hav been one of the more impactful events on the 7 seasons of the show. As it is, the actor continues to milk every ounce of goodness that he can from a situation where he's hamstrung by comic book junkies that don't know the first thing about writing TV. The whole mirror images thing with Carol hasn't worked either, because you'd have to ignore seasons 1-5 to believe any of Carol in season 7.

But bravo to the acting, it was tremendous all the way around. And that asshole that shot the kid had better get himself some Colonel Crawford type shit, pronto

This format is getting so old and outplayed. Same thing the last few seasons where each episode focuses on only a few people and you go a month without developing main character story lines. Andrew Lincoln is making a lot of money to do very little work these days. The CW apparently has a bigger budget for just about all of their shows than AMC does for the biggest show in TV.

Yes, but on the other hand I think far and away the most interesting group is the Hilltop right now. At least it wasn't another week of fuck suck and drive a truck like it was 2 weeks ago, which is about all Alexandria has devolved into. I think the last 2 episodes will start to encompass all of the different groups to start the war before Season 8. Of course it is a little played out, we are going to get the obligatory 5 minutes of everyone being together to watch another main character getting killed, as Sasha is on her way to the inevitable slo-mo dirt nap that will likely be some sort of douchey cliffhanger attempt going away.

No real complaints with this episode. I guess the filler episodes known as weeks 3-whatever we're up to now are good for lowering the bar. Didn't have somebody push their way through a hoard of zombies? Didn't have a CGI deer that would have been better as 2 guys in a deer costume? Then heck......this episode was alllllllllriiiiiiiight.

I just think the writers on this show are some of the worst on TV. I get you're trying to push the story in certain directions for certain events to take place but the choices they have these characters make are some of the most idiotic choices one can make in said situations. Prime example: You're an elite sniper in a textbook perfect spot to kill your target and escape with your life. What do you do? You girl talk for an hour then say "oh shucks i'm tired of sitting here let's go break into that compound with hundreds of bad guys and rambo our way to the target and kill him!" - like give me a fucking break. At least script a legitimate reason for them to abandon their plan like I dunno the sniper rifle malfunction or maybe have your position given away and you're forced to abandon the original plan perhaps? Just garbage fucking writers given the key to the kingdom and pissing it away.

The Writing Brain-Dead?

PS: I just check this thread periodically to see what's happening on the show. I haven't actually watched an episode for probably the past two years. They've had the characters making aggravatingly stupid choices for longer than that. I just finally gave up.

Well, that was the point of Eugene on the walkie...they were sending people into the surrounding buildings
