Has the tv show set up its own demise by following the comic too closely? I've not read the comic, but have watched each season of the show and from what I've read here and elsewhere, while they've substituted some characters and what happens to them here and there, it seems to follow the comic timeline pretty closely. The show seems to bog down each year with the intro/explanation of the new groups, etc. that come from the comic. Was it really necessary to go through the whole Governor cycle or Terminus (which turned out to be a huge let-down) or the Wolves (what a waste of time), given where we are now, for example? We could've gone straight to Alexandria or at least cut out one or two of the season-long villains that then just went away and been in the triangle of the Saviors, Hillfags, and the Rasta-tiger-man (which I'm guessing to be the crux the story for awhile) but without the story fatigue. This is a better show if it's wrapped up in four or five seasons, in my humble opinion. One of the reasons that GoT has been successful as a show is that the producers cut waaaay back on the plot/time lines and condensed/merged threads and characters where helpful. This hasn't always been a success (Dorne) but they've streamlined it while keeping the essence of the story(ies).
All that said, Rick can blow me. Shane wouldn't pussy-out to Negan. And while I'm at it, move Fox to safety.
