The Walking Dead (Official Thread)

So...did anyone watch last night?

I had heard rumors that the actors that play both Tyreese and one other character (I'd use spoiler font, but I don't exactly know how to keep from screwing it up) are off to other shows, so it was likely they'd get axed. I think they got way too cute with the intro, it made zero sense until you had watched the entire episode. Other than bringing back old faces, I wasn't really sure what the point was of the way they did it...if anything, Tyreese seemed to be the least conflicted about his humanity, as he had basically kept it. So seeing Bob and Beth (in what I'm sure is an unintentional fuck off to all the people who were so PO'd she was gone ) was one thing, but it made little sense for the Governor to be there. Also seemed kind of odd he would have let his guard down like that when he had clearly seen and heard the walker in the next room...but I digress, I don't want Glen mad at me

I do like the dynamic of people starting to get reverse cabin fever (though I'm not sure I buy Michonne as the one most affected), so it will be interesting to see if their desperation to settle gets them in trouble.

Honestly, I thought this episode was EXTREMELY well done and interesting. I thought the chronology was interesting and they made you think that they were burying Beth for sure. I also thought it was pretty cool how they showed the girls with their fatal wounds showing when Tyrese was injured, then unscathed right as he was about to pass. Really cool shots of taking out the zombies on the way back to the car after the amputation as well. Obviously hate seeing Tyrese die (he was one of my favorites) but I thought they made it interesting and it fit his character arc really well.

As to the bolded, I think it was a heaven and hell type situation where he was having epiphanies on where he stood at the end of the day. I think Tyrese was so internally conflicted on his decisions and he felt he needed to address his demons in the final hour. Those demons in his case were questioning the extent of his moral compass in not being cut-throat when he needed to be. But man was that a brutal death...to me that is what was so tragic. He gets bit in the arm twice, has to fight off a 2nd walker, gets his arm amputated, and has to suffer through it all and still not make it. As for inconsistencies...you are right on not being alert...maybe he thought Noah had cleared the other rooms? The big inconsistency for me is how long it took Noah to get the rest of the group...they were all in a small community walking around.

In any event, really looking forward to what D.C. is going to look like. Did anyone notice the bodies slashed in half and dismembered body parts? I think they were hinting that perhaps the gov't was involved there and it dawned on them that the safest place to be might be there if elected officials/military perhaps decided to say screw it and just build a compound to protect themselves.

It looked like they all had "W" carved into their foreheads.

I don't know how you get caught off guard in a potential walker house at this stage in the game. Lay waste to the house then get caught up in pictures on the wall.

Despite that, I thought the episode was well done. The time jump at the beginning was Breaking Bad-esque.

I rewatched the most recent episode...if you do not like the most recent episode, I guess you should just abandon the whole show. So well done with so many layers. The last episode is every bit as good as the first season or two. I will concede that the last season or two has not been up to par overall. But this season has been phenomenal imo.

The last scene of Tyrese was so powerful...he faced his demons and differed dying by chance from dying with purpose. I personally thought it was a great ending to the show.

Except that the decisions these characters continue to make are absurd. There's no way Tyrese would survive as long as he has if he ignores a walker a room away in favor of taking a trip down memory lane with pictures of people he doesn't know.

The whole "zombies are loud, lumbering creatures when they know you're watching or they can't see you, then, with barely functional limbs and a powerful stench, become silent, unscented assassins when they see a human that doesn't see them" shit isn't even annoying anymore. They've done it so often I'm counting it as a "rule" of this reality. The zombie that killed Ty-Ty managed to stay inside a room with the door fully shut for who knows how long, then silently open a door and engage stealth mode to kill a man that took out an entire horde with a hammer.

I had given up on this crappy, crappy show, but tried to give it another shot. After this episode, I had decided to quit for good, but thanks to Glen being a whiny cunt on Conan, I'm now planning on watching every episode including the ones I skipped recently, and cataloging Every. Single. Thing. I think is stupid, right here in this very thread.
You're welcome.

It's just a fun to watch series dragged down by too many slow episodes.
Is it inevitable that killing off so many cast members kills off the show?
Maybe.

But. Heh! Vikings will be starting next week! Another fun show to watch.

I never got the whole ninja zombie concept either. It seems there have been a few scenes where it's like...

Running through the woods, stop, look all around (complete 360 degrees) ok nothing around, lean on a tree. Surprise! Zombie 5 ft away, coming right at you! He's stealthy walking through the woods, where every step for anyone else makes a noise. Get out of here with that shit.

And how in the hell are these zombies still able to walk? Human beings that spend too much time in hospital beds or incapacitated lose muscle mass and strength and lose the ability to function without difficulty. How in hell are these zombies still lumbering around out there? What in the world are they working with that is keeping them nourished? Are they going to just die? No. But I was of the assumption that at this point, food is scarce for them. But they're still just walking around, no problem. They never just fall apart after so long of journeying for nothing. Tough sons of bitches.

Also, with all of the makeup expertise they've used in this show, why don't any of the characters look malnourished? Nobody has gotten any skinnier from surviving off of random canned food that they find for years now. They all look amazingly healthy. And when are they shaving and getting haircuts to keep looking the exact same, season after season? Carol still has the same short styled hair as she did in season one. Abraham keeps his, mustache/whatever you want to call it, looking just the same. Ridiculous.

Final point...so Eugene lied that he had a way to wipe out the zombies...so fucking what? I don't get the big deal. They had hope and a desire to survive before they even met Eugene. Now it's different? They are sill faced with the same challenges. They weren't going to go to Washington and hit a reset button and restore the world to the way it was. Everyone is dead. The grids are all down. Civilization is fucked. The task still remains the same whether you've just killed them all or not. Build some walls (and I'm talking real walls with brick and mortar and not some weak ass wooden fences or chain link fences), establish a society/new beginning, and start to try and rebuild the world while protecting what you have. Kill zombies as you come across them. The building will take time. If a herd of zombies comes, leave for a bit and come back later. The zombies aren't going to stay there forever. If they did, then it would all be easy to just never go to where the zombies have settled. Except that's not how it works. They'll leave and then the group can go back. It will take time but that's just how it is. It's no different than how long it took to build civilization to the point it is at today. Live with it. Why is that so hard for them to understand? They've wasted years now accomplishing nothing other than losing members as they've been running. Quit acting defeated as if you've just NOW realized how shitty things are. Quit being some fucking babies. Nothing has changed.
