Subjecting children and families to profanity laced racist tirades as they try and shop.

Someone should do something about these old white conservative fucks.

Keep in mind he's with a white girl, not married, shacking up, she's pregnant

The amount of butthurt being exhibited here by all the poor misunderstood conservatives is truly heartrending.

And where have I ever said half of the political spectrum is racist simply because they disagree with me? Oh and where have I ever tried to split hairs by saying implying I'm talking about fellow BP'ers without saying it and then trying to make a distinction after going on a hate-filled rant against the same? That's right, I haven't.

excellent article and one that I recommend everyone reads. I have been quiet in this and the Sterling discussions because discussions of racism, as we have seen, really can push people at their very core. Taos commented something to the effect that he could not look into everyone on BP to know where they stood and certainly as this article suggests no one knows the paths we walk to get to where we are in life. I think if you look long and hard enough you can convince yourself that you have found racism and discrimination in many places. Conveniently lumping people into groups is disingenuous at best, especially when you know nothing of the individual.

Your attitude typifies the "problem". Marriage counselors say that as along as both parties are talking to each other there's hope for that marriage. But, when the two parties stop talking, stop having an actual dialogue(like what's happened to the BP Poli Forum), that marriage will probably fail. I worry that we are approaching the point where the angry rhetoric is such that there will be no dialogue any more. The "marriage" will fail. The America we know and love will fail and become just another failed ideal.
We should get the NAACP on this! Oh wait...

if i had a nickel for every non-black ivy league 18-year-old who was born on third base and believed he hit a triple, i'd have enough money to seed a new venture and then later crow about how my success was largely a product of my own intelligence and determination.

this teenager doesn't fully understand what the phrase "check your privilege" means, but that doesn't matter to those who will use the child's essay as a pulpit.

Please explain it to me because I have absolutely no understanding of what it means.

I was not previously familiar with the phrase, but I did find this definition on knowyourmeme (which seems appropriate since it's a pretty meme-y retort as I read it) :

Check Your Privilege” is an online expression used mainly by social justice bloggers to remind others that the body and life they are born into comes with specific privileges that do not apply to all arguments or situations. The phrase also suggests that when considering another person’s plight, one must acknowledge one’s own inherent privileges and put them aside in order to gain a better understanding of his or her situation.

I actually like this analogy. I was born on third base, my grandparents on my fathers side were wealthy and educated, grandfather a doctor and grandmother a school teacher. My father however was born with a severe personality disorder and married an emotionally troubled woman who left due to her own mental scars. So I was more or less picked off third and had to wait for another turn to bat, drew a walk and had to steal second and third, still waiting to be driven in

One of the rules of baseball is never make the 1st out at 3rd base. And good thing Duhsty isn't your manager, he wouldn't like all that base clogging walks you take there
