The Polls (AP, Coaches, & CFP, etc.)

If taking a knee at the 5 yard line in the final minute changed our ranking this committee is even more fucked up than I thought.
At the end of the day, if we didn't have a dogshit **~30 point** loss to Purdue, or a 1 point victory against a mediocre Maryland team barely 2 weeks ago, we wouldn't be in this situation.

The Big 10 champ could be left out of the CFP two years ina row. Why would the Big 10 agree to participate in this sham? Screw ESPN and it’s enablers.
Only 1 conference has the ignominy of having their conference representative completely shut-out in the CFPs - not once, but TWICE in a row.
Big Ten needs to take a strong, hard look in the mirror and handle its business this bowl season, before we have room to complain.

2016: 1 loss PSU
2017: 2 loss OSU
2018: 1 loss OSU (potentially)

It could be the third time in 3 years the B1G champ doesn't get into to the ESPN Invitational.

We went what 8-1 last season? We handled last year just fine and haven't been given the benefit.

1 good bowl season isn't enough to overcome 2 years of being shut-out. Again, we're the only conference that has been shut-out in the CFP. Even Washington managed to put points on the board against Alabama. The fact that we did it TWICE is huge.

What does it say to the committee when an Ohio State team with 1 loss in Big Ten play can't score a single point against a 1 loss ACC team, or a MSU team with 1 loss in Big Ten play can't score a single point against a 1 loss SEC team?

I'm not saying it's right. My point is simply that optics matter, and that if we had simply taken care of business when we needed to (or at least put points on the board - a single field goal, even!) we would have a stronger argument. There is a reason Alabama gets the benefit of the doubt season after season - they show they deserve that benefit by handling their business. We got the benefit of the doubt in 2016 (over Penn State) and promptly shit the bed 31-0.

No one cares about a team 3 years ago getting shut out. Florida State an ACC team had the biggest loss (39 points)

Hard to argue... I'd just say this years buckeyes are much better offensively.

We will score but will we even get a couple stops against Alabama? No clue.

Have you seen Florida State in the playoffs since then? And they at least managed to put points on the board.

If the ACC champion was shut out *twice* in a row in the CFB playoffs by the Big Ten and SEC champions, I can guarantee you the committee would think long and hard before putting them in the playoffs again.

Perceptions of conference strength matter. We handle our business this bowl season, things will change.

Allow me to throw a positive spin out there;

They left tsun at #7 and PSU at #12. Next opponent is #21 NU

Texas is only #14

Could be they have seen how inconsistent OSU is this year and are simply waiting for them to show they can do it twice before they jump them over OU based on the better wins.

Just a thought
