The Polls (AP, Coaches, & CFP, etc.)

Considering how the Bucks have meandered through the season it’s really hard to figure out what this team is. As such, it’s kinda hard to complain about rankings. Clearly when all components come together, special things can happen, but that has been the exception, not the norm. I wouldn’t expect the Bucks to jump Sooners if both win but I do agree in some way with your notion that Bucks really need to show some consistent excellence before considering such a jump.

I don't disagree with any of that. The counterargument, however, is that the Oklahoma isn't without significant tarnish itself:

- best wins against #16 WVU and #24 Iowa St. (which compare poorly to OSU's best wins against #7 scUM and #12 PSU)
- close/ugly wins against 5-7 Texas Tech, 3-9 Kansas, and 6-6 Oklahoma St. (which are similar to OSU's close/ugly wins against 4-8 Nebraska, 5-7 Maryland and 6-6 Minnesota)

Michigan at #7 sets up this Doomsday scenario:

1. Georgia loses to Alabama 56-10
2. Oklahoma loses to Texas
3. Ohio State loses to Northwestern

Is there any way that scUM slides back into the #4 slot after that epic 62-39 beatdown and no conference championship? I don't even want to think about it....
LSU does not have a fourth loss to remove themselves from the hunt.

Right now, on the front page of espn.com is this headline: "Georgia breaks into top 4; OSU jumps big"

Let's take a closer look at that "big" jump by OSU. The Buckeyes jumped 4 spots. Who were those 4 teams, and what did they do last weekend?

- Michigan: Lost to our Buckeyes
- Washington St.: Lost to Washington
- LSU: Lost to Texas A&M
- UCF: Won, but lost their starting QB to injury, who will be out going forward

So, basically, that "big" jump would've happened even had the Buckeyes won by a point.

UCF would probably get the bid.

UCF aside and granted, they're only ranked #14 right now, but would Texas get the nod in that scenario? Any choice for #4 would be an awful one with a ton of warts, and although Texas has 3 losses, they're all close losses and it would be the conference champ on a 4-game winning streak, whereas scUM would be non-conference champ that's riding a one-game carpet-bombing losing streak (albeit they'd have one fewer loss than Texas).

Or Washington, assuming they win Friday? They have 3 losses too, but would be a conference champ and are currently ranked #11, somehow.

You left out an OT win against the Juggernaut they call Army.

Look folks we’re only getting in if OU loses and Gawja loses big (20+ given Bama’s margin of victory this year). Thats it. We could beat the Nerds 80-0 and OU wins and Gawja loses OU is in. We need OU to lose and Gawja to loss big. Anything less we’re off to Pasadena and HD southern cal

You're telling me a 2 loss/just loss non conference winner (GA) gets in (along with their conference champ) over a one loss conference winner (OSU)?

That would be the Epitome of SEC bias and guarantee we'd see more teams added to the playoff.
