The Polls (AP, Coaches, & CFP, etc.)

Lol, sure. "Almost half the SEC" meaning 5 teams and Georgia. Fyi, Iowa and Wiscy have been relevant since the 90s too, who cares. Nobody threw out the conference card, you just saw a chance to play it yourself, and it looks like... that. S-E-C!

Iowa and Wiscy played in a National Championship?

It started about January of 2007. But the point remains, almost half of the SEC has played for the MNC since the mid 90s. .

Actually I think it started in 2005, the year after undefeated Auburn got left out behind USC and Oklahoma. That's when you started to hear a concerted effort on the part of the coaches to talk about conference strength at every press conference. I thought it was weird then but that, and getting in to bed with ESPN, has been maddeningly successful. The top teams actually winning championships certainly doesn't hurt, but there's no doubt in my mind that there was a deliberate PR campaign designed to make it so 2004 didn't happen again.

I don’t care about the CFP rankings until after championship week. I think they create drama for viewers like a reality show. Only thing Buckeye fans should worry about is the next game. If we win sorry about the next and see what happens. They don’t look like a top 4 team to me this year and I would hate to see another 31-0 beatdown (it would be worse against Bama as a 4 seed if they made it) but the 2 big goals are best TTTUN and then win the B1G and that’s a pretty damn good season to me. But for now I’ll be glad with a W on Saturday.

Buckeyes will not be in the playoffs. And honestly, they have no business being there this season. That has fuck-all to do with ESPN's "love for SEC and ACC," and everything to do with 49-20 and a bunch of WTF moments the remainder of the schedule.

It isn't completely due to ESPN having a financial interest in the SEC and ACC but it damn sure has more to do with it than "fuck all".

If you can't recognize what they have been up to from day 1 this season with their "playoff predictor" and over rating of SEC/ACC bottom dwellers then you are intentionally not paying attention.

The Buckeyes have not helped their own case to be sure but then again, in the SEC LSU gets 2 mulligans. OSU had to run the table and look good doing it every week.

Different standards for different leagues and the one with lower standards just happens to be financially aligned with ESPN.

Sorry, I'm not into conspiracy theories. The committee wasn't hired by ESPN.

Yet an LSU team with 2 losses--one of which was 0-29 at home--is still a legit playoff contender? If you can't see the anti-Ohio State and anti-B1G bias in that, I don't know what to tell you. And perhaps Ohio State doesn't deserve to be in this year, but pretty soon there'll be a year where Ohio State (or another B1G champ) definitely does deserve a shot and will find itself sitting at #5 when the dust settles in order to let a second SEC! team and/or Notre Dame in.

This right here is the key. They are a poor man's 2016 OSU, yet when their comeuppance comes, it is not a disqualifier let alone an anchor around their neck for the following season.
