The Polls (AP, Coaches, & CFP, etc.)

I'm a realist, not a fanboy. tOSU normally looks TREMENDOUSLY better than this year's team.

Again, no is saying, "Damn, this team looked great this year." They didn't..... until they beat ttun.
your memory is quite terrible.

OSU didn't have a LB unit in 12, so Boren rescued them.
OSU didn't have any defense in 13 and only occasionally a passing game.
OSU was weak to average for most of 14 and great during one trip to EL. There's a reason they were underdogs before a 59 pt rout.
They didn't try once before AA in 15.
The offense struggled too often in 16 ending with a hideous playoff game.
The offense and defense had major struggles in 17.

Most of all, that 14 team was nothing like that before the postseason.

Even that amazing trilogy run involved some pretty improbable plays. They do not win it if Lane keeps feeding Henry, or if Miller does not catch a TD pass from Alabama, or if Spencer does not make the greatest end zone throw in the history of the school. Oh and that amazing trick play? It was his third biggest play of the game.

I like how criticizing the committee's clear bias toward the SEC is being an "OSU FAN BOY"

I don't think anyone here is saying for certain that "OHIO STATE GOT ROBBED!"

My beef is that UGA was even in the conversation. The fact that they were so seriously in it should be a major problem for anyone who isnt an SEC fan boy.

Ok? And using that logic, Ohio State is > UGA

Both played 1 "quality" team. Ohio State won by 23 and UGA lost by 7. UGA also has 2 losses to Ohio State's 1.

Bama isnt even in this argument, they went undefeated and earned their own right to their ranking. UGA is getting a BS biased "benefit of the doubt" of "well they played Bama close so they must be great" completely ignoring their other loss, a beatdown to an average at best LSU team.
Who, again, did we lose to?

Who again did we..... by a bad pass..... nearly lose to?

Who again did we get damn lucky to beat in the 4th quarter?

Again, I don't follow GA closely, but I don't think their fans have been agonizing over their games against people they should beat like we have.

Yes, 2 losses...... if that's what "seals the deal" for you, fine.

Grant me this, this OSU team isn't up to what we expect. If you answer that with yes, then..... is EVERY OTHER TEAM below us also having an "off year" too or are we really that much better than everyone in your eyes?

If you think this IS a good tOSU team, why? One great win? Seriously?

i seriously think it was done intentionally to fill air time.

i mean the show was 4 freaking hours long.
i coulda had that bitch finished in less than 30min.

so, let put UGA between Oklahoma and tOSU to give us something to babble about for along stretch of time.

So who the hell did tOSU play that was so tough?

If Corn isn't anybody, PSU is overrated..... Rutgers? The Badgers? Sparty this year? Where's those wins that make us "elite" in your eyes other than the hard bitch slapping of ttun and an expected NW win?

The thing I'm hearing is: Bana and GA play nobody. Well, we gotta back that up with...... look who we stomped. Well, MANY, MANY, MANY years we beat the living shit out of good teams. This year is an exception. We beat the hell out of ttun..... always the best day of the year.

Point me in the direction of those high quality and strong wins over worthy opponents this year.
So then nothing good happened all year other than securing tears from places we dislike?

That must be a really fun way to watch football.

Alabama, Clemson, ND, OU, Ohio State, UGA.....MAYBE scUM and UCF

After that yes, there is a SIGNIFICANT drop off in quality of teams this season.

If we played LSU or Florida at this very moment I believe we would beat both fairly easily. Can you come up with a reason why these teams are "good"?

Ohio State ended the season smacking the best team on their schedule and then easily winning the B1G title game. I'd say they've proven that something changed after that Maryland game and pulled it more together than all year.

As mentioned, in 2014 we struggled with 4-8 INDIANA in late November (also the week before Michigan) then beat Michigan by 14, destroyed Wisconsin and went on to win the national title.

Sometimes things just start clicking late for some reason, it happens, its happened before not that long ago.

Bama was practically trying to give UGA that SEC title and UGA could not take advantage of it. That's a sign of a team that's probably not as great as you want to pretend they are.

Sigh Jim Delany didn't even stand up for us. Wow that's sad and why they have no problem stiffing the Big 10

I’ve been thinking about this. I don’t recall how Jim handled 2014. I know Urban stumped pretty hard for us...

Which, compared to this year, was light years more stumping. Which makes me wonder if Urban (perhaps others) were totally ok with the Rose... and if that’s the case, maybe why we’ve not seen much from Jim?

Otherwise, I’ve got nothing.

This seems to be an argument of how bad we usually are?

Oh hell yes, ANYTHING can happen postseason because teams are paired often against people they rarely, if ever, see.

It used to be crazy fun to watch the bowls. Now.... meh.... also ran interest only.

pretty sure they kicking themselves in the ass for losin to LSU.
especially by 20pts
Sorry, we're doing " why OSU fans are spoiled" right now

Otherwise it feels like there might just be a recent game that they're agonizing over, particularly how they finished down the stretch. No, I probably have my facts mixed up. Kirby Smart would never call the worst punt playcall we have ever seen.

sure, wait til our best CB declares he’s leaving (and skipping bowl), our 2nd best CB just had surgery and might be back for spring, a middle LB has to sit first half, and a starting Safety prolly suspended, plus lost a Dlineman for the year.

wonder if Burrow can play defense?

I argued it would be in the SEC's favor FOR BAMA TO LOSE. Bama loses..... GA goes in, probably, given this committee.

That's good money, good recruiting, good future TV.... for the SEC. Saban DID have some dumbass calls in the game, but in the end..... I was likely wrong that he'd be that mercenary, even though I still don't think it would have broken his heart to have GA in the CFP.

There's no question UGA and Bama both would have been in, that's pretty clear.

You could have seriously argued though that Bama shoulda been left out though considering how awful they looked until UGA decided to fall apart even harder and let them off the hook.

I think Bama is the best team this year, but after watching that game they are definitely beatable. You can say "OU Sucks" but they will be by far the best offense Bama has faced all season. There's been times this year where Bama's D hasnt looked so hot so could be an interesting game.
