Fun scenario for the CFP

Every Power-5 undefeated drops a game: Bama, Clemson, ND

1-loss power-5 teams win out: scUM/OSU, Wazzu, Oklahoma, LSU/UGA/UK

UCF remains undefeated

You would have:

11-1 Bama
11-1 Clemson
11-1 Ntre Ame
11-1 Ohio State or scUM (It'll be Ohio State)
11-1 Wazzu
11-1 Oklahoma
11-1 LSU, Kentucky or UGA (likeliest in this scenario to be UGA)

Plus 12-0 UCF that hasn't lost a game in 2 full years.

I wonder, should this happen, if this would be enough for the CFP to blow up. Certainly if the PAC-12, B1G or Big 12 are left out you would start to hear rumblings and if the selection committee goes Bama/UGA/NoD/Clemson, you'd have to wonder what the other power-5s would do.

It won't happen because the CFP (like the BCS before it) always seemed to miss the true nightmare scenarios, but it would be funny if it did.

If it's Bama, LSU/UGA, Clemson and ND while the other P5 champs all have 1 loss and UCF is undefeated, I think you have the possibility for a coalition of the FOX P5 conferences (B1G, PAC & B12) and the mid-majors coming together to finally say enough is enough.

I think I'll root for LSU just to help create the shitstorm.

Delaney along with the other P5 commissioners should go on the B1G Network/Fox and tell ESPN and the Alabama Invitational to go fuck itself. In those exact words. The whole thing would be proven as a farce.

For maximum fuckery I'd love to see an undefeated Alabama lose in the SEC Championship to a 1-loss Georgia team.

Bama losing to LSU is the worst thing that could happen. Cause they aint losing to Miss State or Auburn and will end up back in the top 4 (guessing 5th is as far as they fall if LSU happens to beat them)

It's a lot harder for them to put them in if they lose to SEC championship game.

Best case is Bama just wins out, then you get 1 SEC team undoubtedly unless some crazy shit happens.

That wasn't really the point of my post.

I want chaos. I want this fucking beauty pageant put on by ESECSECSECPN bullshit to end.

Probably the worst thing UCF did this year was kick the shit out of Pitt - far more impressively than the boys from South Bend - because no Power 5 team will schedule them now. It's easy to criticize their schedule but they can't force other schools to play them, and each of the last 2 years they've had road games against ACC teams (Georgia Tech and North Carolina) cancelled because of hurricanes.

If they go unbeaten in consecutive years - with a bowl win over an SEC team (the one who beat Bama) in between - and get excluded again (which they will) they have every right to be pissed off about it, but they aren't there yet.

Beating UNC wouldnt have given them much of a boost this year. (They suck) same with Ga Tech last year. Suppose they could claim a win vs a p5, but a bad-mediocre P5 team is all it would be.

They do play STANFORD FOOTBALL! next season (along with Pitt). Depending on how Stanford finishes this year and where they rank (if they do) in the preseason next year. Next season could be their chance if they can run the table.

With Cincinnati emerging and Houston showing to be holding at pretty solid (along with Temple and USF being at least decent) its gonna get harder for them to run the table in conference though.

All these people talkin bout Aggy finish unranked.... what drugs are you on... and why arent you sharing with me?
Aggy is great - they lost to Clemson and Bama. That makes them bonafide.

Regardless, the CFP is by the Power 5 (and ND) and for the Power 5 (and ND). UCF could win 30 straight, beat Stanford by 30, and they still wouldn't get in it.

UCF could lose tonight and end this particular debate, but the system will still be rigged. That the rules are different for the SEC (first loss doesn't count) only makes it worse.

I'd say certain SEC teams.

Bama, UGA, LSU, Florida, probably Auburn can get this treatment, anyone else meh. There definitely is a solidly clear favortism toward the SEC, but they mostly prop the other schools up (The Miss State and A&M of the world) to make the blue bloods look better.

Bama could lose to LSU this week and Kentucky could win out and win the SEC with 1 loss and I would not be the least bit shocked if they put Bama in over Kentucky if it came down to the 2 of them. Under some excuse such as "The loss to LSU was a fluke we know Bama is the best"

Kentucky wouldnt be able to handle the grind of SEC West. Look what Aggy did to them. That division is stacked top25 top to bottom.
Losing to Clemson is the mark of greatness. Unless we're discussing ACC schools.

The SEC has the highest rated no-loss, 1-loss, 2-loss, and the top-two 3-loss teams.

Here is a list of B1G non-conference wins over current committee top-25 teams:

Maryland over #17 Texas
Iowa over #24 Iowa State
Indiana over #25 Virginia
Purdue over #22 Boston College
Minnesota over #23 Fresno State

Here is a list of SEC non-conference wins over current committee top-25 teams:

/end of empty list

They do have Auburn over Washington, Mizzou over Purdue, and LSU over Miami, and Ole Miss over Texas Tech. But they have zero wins over currently ranked teams.

Is the committee aware of this fact, or are they only fed information that ESPN wants them to consider?

College football had it right decades ago.

Beat your rival, win your league and go have fun in a Bowl game somewhere as a reward for a successful season.

Takes all the angst away from the ESPiN Invitational Tournament approach and lets people just enjoy the season.
