The Polls (AP, Coaches, & CFP, etc.)

College football had it right decades ago.

Beat your rival, win your league and go have fun in a Bowl game somewhere as a reward for a successful season.

Takes all the angst away from the ESPiN Invitational Tournament approach and lets people just enjoy the season.

The argument I see most in defense of the ESPN Invitational is "THEY HAVE TO DECIDE WHO THE BEST TEAMS ARE BASED ON THE EYE TEST" (This is mostly used when arguing for Alabama being in possibly for a 2nd straight year without even winning their division of the SEC).......because the human element never includes any biases :bored:

If they are gonna have a playoff i'd make it 6. Take all 5 P5 champs and the highest group of 5. That eliminates any possible biases. Win your conference and you're in, no bs inbetween.

Yup, which keeps things exciting all year. And when the best team gets left out in 2015 or 2017, they can look in the mirror and yell at themselves.

Of course will never happen though. You'd pretty much have to get rid of rankings to pull that system off.

The problem with the polls is that they are all based off an initial preseason poll which is pretty much based on nothing but speculation and past success.

This will never happen but what the hell;

Keep: the playoff at 4 teams (which means no auto bids)

Add: a BCS style algorithm

Get rid of: Polls and playoff committees.

Sportswriters are some of the dumbest human beings the gods ever put on this planet.
Why build the whole thing around their opinions?
It's insane.

The SEC has the highest rated no-loss, 1-loss, 2-loss, and the top-two 3-loss teams.

Here is a list of B1G non-conference wins over current committee top-25 teams:

Maryland over #17 Texas
Iowa over #24 Iowa State
Indiana over #25 Virginia
Purdue over #22 Boston College
Minnesota over #23 Fresno State

Here is a list of SEC non-conference wins over current committee top-25 teams:

/end of empty list

They do have Auburn over Washington, Mizzou over Purdue, and LSU over Miami, and Ole Miss over Texas Tech. But they have zero wins over currently ranked teams.

Is the committee aware of this fact, or are they only fed information that ESPN wants them to consider?

This is why it cracks me up especially this year when the "SEC BEATS UP ON EACHOTHER!" excuse gets thrown out.

How anyone can watch teams like Texas A&M and Miss State (whos not a SEC homer jerkoff) and say they are anything but mediocre-average is insane to me.

Besides Bama the SEC this year just seems like a bunch of mediocre beating on eachother. Which counts for "strength" in the SEC........but in the case of say the Pac 12 it means the conference is dog crap.

Mississippi St has possibly the worst passing QB to step foot ona college football field in the last 25 years (maybe longer).

And as an LSU fan, i’d say i’m pretty much an expert on bad QB play.

Fitzgerald is absolutely terrible.

[doing quick math in head to see if Steve Bellasari has been gone 25 years]

i didn’t think i’d ever see a passing performance at Death Valley worse than Bryan Sparacino against Bama in ‘96 (FUCK Shaun Alexander, by the way).
8 for 35 with 0 TD and 2 int.

Nick Fitzgerald said “hold my beer”.
8 for 25 and 0 TD but he doubled up and tossed 4 int.
Actually threw 5, but one was called back.

Dude they were literally playing the "Please pay attention because balls could fly into the stands at any time" disclaimers in the Shoe in 2011 because of the Bauserbombs. There's a rumor (no idea if it's a fact, I've blocked 2011 from my mind) that he hit and killed a small asian woman in the C-deck. This rumor hasn't been confirmed however.

well at least those had an outside chance of a weird wind event knocking ball down and into the field of play.

Fitz would need the NCAA to make ground balls “live” for himnto have a shot

The CFP poll isnt based off any preseason and it's even more of a joke. Just saying. I'm tired of polls... implode the little10, declare P4 conferences as a new top tier - the Premiership anyone ?, and take the 4 champs
