Man, I wish they hadn't jumped us over LSU-- of all teams.
In the "Poll that doesn't really matter but somehow does", at this point in the season I'd prefer to have a chip on our shoulders (as I'm sure LSU now does). Anywhere between #5-9 is fine with me. Plenty of time to move up without the constant chatter from Herbie, et al. how we're the team to beat...blah blah blah
....Don't get me wrong, though. Drop Clemson as far as you want...#20 seems fair.
If we have to rely on the team being #5 vice #4 for them to "get a chip on their shoulders" then the team has issues. I could never understand the thought process of being ranked lower is good. If you're sitting at #5 and a #4 SEC team upsets a #1 SEC team you know the #1 SEC team is not going to drop more than a few spots and will still be ahead of us. Higher is always, always better. In the "Poll that doesn't really matter but somehow does", at this point in the season I'd prefer to have a chip on our shoulders (as I'm sure LSU now does). Remember way back in the BCS days when computers were a major component to evaluating the best teams... We went the wrong way.. it was the human element we should have eliminated not the other way around.
I'm not sure he's wrong.Finebaum's show is sure to be a hoot this week.

Finebaum’s full top four is:
- Ohio State
- Alabama
- Georgia
- LSU
I'm not sure at this point a case couldn't be made for Wisconsin to be included. Still half the season to go.I'm not sure he's wrong.
I think we will expand the margin above LSU, just based on how the voters operate. Many of them don't use their personal ballot from the week before as a starting point for their next ballot, they use the actual poll from the week before. So a good portion of the non-thinking voters will just fill in the top-6 based on how they were ranked last week, since none of the top-6 had a loss or a squeaker win, which will widen the gap between 4 and 5.So I expect to get jumped by LSU today.
There were only 2 points separating us last week... Auburn had 3 inexplicable 1st place votes and at least 5 voters had Auburn ahead of LSU. With Auburn out, that means they will likely bump LSU up into those vacated positions.
I don't imagine a lot of movement from voters on Ohio State.
Only takes 1 voter moving LSU from 6 to 4 (such as LA Daily News' Mark Whicker) to tie us. His top 7 from last week... Bama, OU, Clemson, Auburn, OSU, LSU, Georgia. Media is so shite.
