Looking for help here.

I am participating in the Spielman Scramble next week.
One of our group dropped out last week and we have a slot available.

Good cause (Breast Cancer research)
Good course (Clover Valley in Johnstown)

Should be a good event.

pm me for details if interested.

Shot 83 last Sunday at The Links At Groveport (the old Groveport CC). Played after 4PM, no wind and conditions were ideal. First time out this year...I think I should just put 'em away after that.

That's a tough fucking course with about the smallest greens I've ever seen.

Did you play from the tips?

Not a chance. The guys I was playing with were all hackers (100-120 scores), and two of them were a little tipsy. In my opinion, only single-digit handicappers should play from the back because a foursome of hackers can really back things up even from the whites. If I played more often I might go to the back tees but as it is I can't count on shooting in the 80's every time out.

How did you like the course. We played there when it opened, and got stuck with close to a six hour round.(not fun)

I have played there several times and never had any slow play issues. I think it is a decent course, not great. They have some good deals there if you play during the week or late in the day. the greens are generally in pretty good shape and not overly undulating. My issue is with the rough, they have been open for over two years now and the rough still has not filled in very well. That and the trains that go by every 15 minutes. There is not much trouble there (unless you hit it out of bounds a lot) I think it is a place you can shoot a pretty low score.

I used to play out there all the time in college. It was kind of a home course for the Capital University Mens golf team. Also I found out from my mother that when it was still a private course it actually had a hole named for my great grandfather....pretty cool.
