Made it out twice for the holiday week apart from the mini-cation. Got off the tee pretty well - the natural draw I started developing a couple years ago from slowing down my backswing and taking a 1/4 step back from the ball (forcing me to reach out for the ball) has really paid off. When you start consistently driving 265+ on a public course, it looks good.

Higher irons were decent, lower ones sucked ass. Hybrid game was up and down. Had the right green reads, but just couldn't get the pacing down until, go figure, on 18 during the first day I sink a 28 footer to close out. Scratch and bogey golf, sadly.

Hopefully the rest of you boys are shooting better than myself.

Buckeneye, remember you hit the big dog only 14 times a round. Unless you're spot on with your irons, both distance and direction, chances are very good you're going to have to chip. And the closer you are, the better odds you can make the putt (talking about being 10' or closer). Soooo, even though everyone wants to hit the driver 20-30 times on the range, you'd be better served going to the chipping range (if you have one at your course), and hitting those 20-30 chips (use 48-52-56-60 to see which one 'fits' you best). Then go spend 1/2 hour to hour on putting green. Drill I use is stand in middle of practice green, and drop five balls (we have five holes), and put one ball to each hole. Helps you control distance changes, and direction. Good luck, you've got a great start. PS, half (36) of the strokes in a round (72) are putts. That assumes you hit all the greens in regulation (no one can, not even the pros), so if you can chip it close, and one put, pars are there.....Good Luck!

At 60+ I’ve had one of the better seasons in a long time this year. Constantly in the high 30s during league. I attribute a lot of it to my weight lifting and gluten reduced diet I have embraced this year. I feel better, am hitting the ball further, and just have a much better/calmer approach to the game.

I hate to see this season come to an end.
