I'm in Chicago for vacation and I'm finally getting to play some golf. Played at Harborside today. Wow! I haven't had a golf course kick my ass like that in awhile. Links style with 4 ft grass on both sides on the fairway. There may as well have been a lake on both sides of each fairway. Miss it and you were dropping (we played lateral hazard otherwise it would have been even worse) I kept the driver in the bag on the whole back nine (except the par 5's). I shot 82 and it wasn't half bad. I think I had 4 penalty strokes.

Links at Echo Springs today. Awesome course. Next round will be the day after my b day at Chapel Hill.

sprinkled and rained in the morning, 20 minute delay on 8. Played horribly on the front (even for me) and good on the back (for me) 52-42.

Played there last week for the first time and shot an 89 I believe. We played from the back tees. Took a 9 on the short par 4 with the ravine, # 13 I believe. Chunked two sand wedges into that ravine. :smash: Shot 47 on that side. Also had a 7 on # 16 because of an OB tee shot. :smash:

A nice course.

A nice course.

I can blame my crappy front nine on the rain, and will do so. Blayed from the blacks (not the tips).

The course is nicer than I remembered. If it were closer to Columbus, it would be a $65+ course. Johnstown has three nice courses. Pretty good for a town that size. No wonder they were state champs in golf last year.

I'm what you call a complete golf junky. I get out, on average, about 4-5 times a week in season, and whenever the weather permits 12 months out of the year.

I've been playing more than ever now that my 5 year old is getting hooked on the game. During a typical work week, I try to get out 3-4 times in the evening and take my son with me.(he brings a putter and a 7-iron) Of course, he isn't big enough to really play. I just let him whack a few irons from the fairways and knock in some putts on the greens. I can't tell you how much joy it brings me seeing how much he loves being out on the golf course. I'm proud of him because he's actually developing some touch with his putter, and can get his 7-iron airborne on a somewhat regular basis. We usually get to the course before 6pm, skip around traffic in a cart, and log 18-23 holes+ before it gets dark.

Weekends are daddy time, and I play every saturday/sunday....grownups only. I kept a handicap for years, and usually hovered in the neighborhood of a 6, but I quit keeping one a year ago because I never play in handicapped events anymore since moving away from Columbus. The funny thing is that since... I've been playing my best golf due to a combination of extra play because of my son, and getting fitted by a pro for the first time. Even though I no longer carry a real HC, I'm probably playing to somewhere in the 3-4 HC range right now:biggrin: My best golf ever!! I even shot my first lifetime 18 hole score under par(-1...71 two weeks ago) I had a 15 foot downhill putt for a 69 on the last..... and 3-jacked:! LOL Needless to say, except for that 3-jack, the putts were dropping on that day.

I do miss Columbus golf!! One thing is for sure...there are lots of good places to play in central ohio. Over the years, I've logged well over 100 ohio golf course under my golfing belt:)

that's great that your 5 year old is playing... I have twin boys that are 5 and are just starting. I go out about once a week with my dad... we haven't brought them along yet... we've just taken them to a soccer field and just let them swing away.... hopefully they won't pick up my slice
