THE GAME: ttun @ tOSU, Sat Nov 26, 12pm, FOX

It's not about putting images, messages, and video content around the WHAC. It's not about pointing to the sky as if God does not also love players on the other side and you are somehow blessed above them. It's about wanting to win so bad that you are willing to do whatever it takes.

That should be the motto of the 2023 Buckeye football team...whatever it takes.

I was wrong. I really thought (apparently, more hope than thought) that we were saving something for yesterday on both sides. That we’d been vanilla all year only to show up for real yesterday and then run the B1G and playoff table. That only the weather could stop us…

Turns out that the weather was perfect for what I thought we were and didn’t make a damn bit of difference because of what we really are. You are what you show on tape. I thought we were something different and we just hadn’t yet shown it. Turns out that we’d been showing it all year. Petulant and soft on offense with too many toys in the toy box to decide which to play with and too stupidly aggressive on defense when we knew or should’ve know that our secondary sucks.

What I really didn’t think I would see regardless of the outcome was the disgusting pussying out that I saw in the 4th quarter and letting them run away with it. Actually, we didn’t let them, those assholes took it from us. Heart isn’t ever something I’d associate with them, but they had it yesterday and we most assuredly did not. We gave them some cheap ones in the first half, but those motherfuckers earned what they got the rest of the way. I hate that the one asshole was yelling out that we are who they thought we are, but he’s right. Anger at michigan is misdirected. Hate, sure, but we’ve got in-house problems.

If a bunch of guys, Stroud especially, sit out the bowl game, well...it's going to be a long decade

I would actually like to see a bunch of guys, especially Stroud, sit out of the bowl game. They've shown what Ohio State means to them - we've seen it. It's just a step on the way to the NFL and there's nothing left that Ohio State needs from them, either. Au revoir.

But I fear it won’t. We all care about this game, obviously. And even when Cooper didn’t get it, the players did. Some of them went about it the wrong way (looking at you David Boston), but most of the time it is obvious that the game means way more to the players playing in it than it does to some fat middle-aged guys sitting in the stands. However, with some of the things I’ve been hearing (CJs comment and others), I am beginning to wonder if this is “just another game” to this group now. The way Cooper used to frustratingly point to Notre Dame and Penn State when people brought up Michigan. I don’t know, is it a lack of Ohio guys in prime positions? NIL? The playoffs? Complacency? No clue, I’m not smart enough to know. But what I do know is that one team played the last 2 games like they wanted it way more than the other did, and it showed.

The wife was just watching an interview of CJ with Austin Ward after the game and Austin asked him how disappointed he was that his last game in the Shoe ended the way it did. He started by saying he didn't know if that was his last game in the Shoe then blah blah blah.
My first thought was : It damn well better be your last game in the Shoe! I was one of the ones defending CJ last year when everybody wanted him benched, but since then I've seen no fire, passion or leadership from him. Something that seems to be missing from the entire team for two years now. Not to mention that if he came back ( I'm sure he won't) it would screw up our QB progression and recruiting for the next few years.

Stroud has been nothing short of exemplary in representing this University unlike many on here.

Never a hint of trouble and always generous.

He's not really wrong though. C.J. IS without a doubt a great person and represents the University very well. I don't think anyone is questioning that.
Maybe it's just his personality, but I've just never really seen him show the passion or fire expected from a leader of one of the top teams in College Football.
Don't get me wrong, I think CJ is extremely talented and has tried to do his best for the team. I truly believe in his heart he cares about The Game, but as I've said elsewhere on the board, nobody on the team really seems to show that passion outwardly. Every time we see shots of our bench everyone is just sitting there almost looking disinterested. Who is the team leader that is going to get up in guys faces, or travel up and down the bench trying to fire guys up? We haven't seen that for two years.
