The Game, tOSU at ttun, Nov. 27th,12pm FOX (3654 down to 0)

8 of those were false starts.
5 False starts
2 Holding calls
1 Unsportsmanlike conduct
1 Defensive pass interference
1 Offsides

9 penalties against us since Michigan's last one, which came early in the game. The holding and pass interference calls were the hardest ones to see called, since they weren't called against TTUN. The refs also picked up a flag against us - the chick ref wanted to call us for a false start when the main ref hadn't even allowed us to approach the ball while Michigan was still making substitutions - never seen anything like it, and I watch a lot of football.

Then there were the generous spots given to one team (not us) several times in the 1st half. The reviews of only one team's close plays (ours).

I do think the refs missed a couple potential calls against us, but it wasn't even in the same realm compared with the missed calls against TTUN.

Day waxed their asses 56-27 two years ago and would have went in dry last year. I don't think it's a matter of him getting it so much as his program is hamstrung by a subpar defensive coaching staff. He needs to make major upgrades on that side of the ball.
Should've challenged it then... i totally believe we failed. Now here we are.

At this point I hope that Harbaugh goes pro.

Well, this is where we will find out if Day is going to be a great coach or a good to very good coach.
I like Ryan Day as a head coach - a lot.

But the fact remains that he is now 1-1 vs scUM and 1-2 in bowl games. It's still early for Day, but Urban Meyer was 7-0 vs scUM and 5-2 in bowl games with a national championship (in year 3), and Jim Tressel was 9-1 vs scUM and 6-4 in bowl games with a national championship (in year 2). Ryan Day is clearly behind that curve.

And surprisingly, Day is not a very good play caller - very little creativity and insists on pounding the ball inside when neither his RB nor his OL is designed for power football.

All of the above is in addition to the defensive woes that have plagued this team in 2020 and 2021.

There's still time for Day to prove that he's a great coach, but that time is already running out. 2022 has to be OUR YEAR, or else it's not going to happen with Ryan Day.

I agree 100%.

Calls for Luke Fickell are echoing across social media this evening. Obviously, Day isn't getting fired but if chose to leave and Fickell replaced him I wouldn't be mad.

The only way Day would leave is if the NFL (Chicago?) came calling. I doubt that happens, so he needs to get started on addressing the weaknesses exposed today.

So Day is 50 50…he’s in Chicago next year if there is a God. Wilson is primed for HC.
