Game Thread THE GAME: tOSU at TSUN, Nov 30 @ 12p ET, ABC

I just wanted to remind everyone that we beat scUM and it's a great day to be a Buckeye.
Yep. There's a reason I'm not hinging my enjoyment of this run on whether tOSU makes it to the BCSNCG. I've always said, for me, it's win the B1G, beat scUM, and everything else is gravy. All you can do is win each game put in front of you. Yes, the defense looked like shit. But guess what? That game will go down as one of the greatest, if not THE greatest in the history of the best rivalry in sports. And Ohio State came out on top. Just like they have in 9 of the last 10, and 11 of the last 13. 11-2 > 10-2-1. Yesterday didn't erase the Cooper years, but it puts our era of dominance narrowly ahead of theirs. And next year we get them in The Shoe. That's pretty sweet.

Thank you James Patrick Tressel and Urban Frank Meyer, III for flipping this rivalry back to the good guys.

So at what point in this discussion will you bother to answer the first sentence, Jeff? Who are these "great" teams? Because I'm unsure if I see any, and I certainly don't see more than one.

Maybe Delaney shouldn't have told ESPN to shove their insulting deal and then they could be protected by Disney like the mediocre ACC.

The league perception noise is quite overstated (despite the frequency of it in the media). OSU has an OSU problem. THEY stunk it up in the desert (and followed it up with memorable losses to LSU, USC & Texas). They weren't that great early this year. Had THEY been better, then they could get the FSU treatment, fanfare for beating up on a terrible conference with a paper tiger or two.

So glad to hear someone saying this. Personally I am getting really tired of hearing all the talk of "we don't get any respect because nobody likes us or our conference." As a fan base we sound like crybabies more often than not. There is no doubt that the B1G is overly marginalized but anyone that uses that crutch to avoid introspection on the teams current and past flaws loses a lot of credibility with me. Or, look at it this way. Have a conversation with Urban about why we don't get respect. What kind of answer do you think he would give? I highly doubt he would point to anything beyond his control. And for the record, the conference as a whole, the national media, oversigning in the SEC, etc etc. are beyond anyone's control.

Want some respect? Kick someone's teeth in and then go out the following week and do it again. We had the chance to kick *ichigan's teeth in but we didn't. Actually we were one......one.......play away from losing out on the golden opportunity that would eventually come to us later in the day. That is a FACT. Anything else is said about it is total rationalization. During their rise to national dominance Bama, USC, Nebraska or any other "dynasty" team didn't make a habit of playing down to their competition but yesterday we did. And don't tell me that it's ok because it was against our hated rival. What about the poor performance against Cal, Illinois, NW, etc? My dad told me a long time ago to completely take excuses out of my dialogue. I wished our fan base would do the same. Good news is that I guarantee you Urban already has. He will get the D fixed it will just take a while.

Horse. Shit. Nowhere in the history of major college football has any team NEEDED A FUCKING EXCUSE FOR WINNING EVERY FUCKING GAME FOR TWO YEARS.

I'm done. This shit is getting beyond stupid.

This. I'll be glad when the poll comes out so people can shove it. ESPN and Auburn and the SEC and delusional fans can cry all they want, it isn't going to keep us out. I've said it before and I'll say it again... Bama wasn't that good this year.

THIS!!! Don't get me wrong, I love that he did it. Problem is that it doesn't seem like he's done anything else since. It's almost as if he's made the BIG that one contestant on Survivor that needs to win every immunity challenge because he isn't aligned with anybody. Maybe a better comparison is that he's turned the BIG into the CFL and the Buckeyes are the only NFL caliber team screaming for a shot at the Superbowl.

If this was the first time I'd ever watched as season of football this argument would make more sense. I'm with Kyle... What. The. Fuck? Any team that wins 2 straight seasons worth of games doesn't need to make any excuses.

Yesterday, OSU's defense looked bad.

OSU still won

El Guapo is a grown ass man
Need to take care of Sparty first, then we can stake the rightful claim to be in the championship game. But once that happens, this defense better become a much better defense or we will likely get thrashed. If a team like TTUN can gouge our defense, then FSU would be worse...if that's possible.

A lot of the bad things that happened yesterday can be put on the refs allowing the two teams to "just play". No holding calls. Refs not stepping in to stop the pushing early. I expect that the refs will be stricter in the Big championship game to prevent another black eye for the national perception of the Big. But maybe I'm over-thinking the ref inaction/actions. The refs have been pretty consistent in "letting teams play" this year. Indy will be another "street fight". That's how Sparty plays. All we can do is match Sparty's intensity.

A lot of things that happened yesterday can be blamed on the fact that it's THE GAME. If it was supposed to be easy then it would just be called THE WAY.
