THE GAME, tOSU at tCun, Sat. 11/25, 12pm ET, FOX

Well then, if we are going to set our sights on being Wisconsin, let's go take their coach.

Or any other coach in America that maybe could have done more than get MHJr the ball 5 fucking times in The Game of their life.
whisky would love to be us lol. Let’s not do that. We haven’t won less than 10 games since, *gasp* we had wisky’s coach in the worst season in the last 30 yrs. We are nowhere near them. IMO part of the reason McCord hasn’t progressed is because he has only looked for Marvin all year. Hence the horrible INT in the first. We tried to get him the ball. McCord wasn’t having it lol.

Lincoln Reilly could have gotten MHJr the ball more than 5 times. Why don't we hire him?

Again, name a coach that you think could do better. Don't just say that there is some mysterious coach out there that can do better.

He played conservative at the end of the first half cuz our QB is not that good lol. Look, day is not perfect by any means

i agree with you as CFB is currently structured, but starting next year we only need to beat them once….in the playoffs…if we face them. Like I get it , losing sucks, especially to them, but it’s no longer the end all be all. Even this year, IF Florida pulls this out against FLST and/or Washington loses next week, we are right back in it (admittedly not good chances, but look at last year). All I’m saying is besting TSUN at the end of the year is not the “season” anymore no matter how we slice it. It might be symbolically, but it literally isn’t. We want to beat them for sure, but realistically we just need to be in the top 12, then anything can happen with the talent with have on hand from year to year
Beating TCUN is ALWAYS The Season. It always has been and always will be. Even in this new expanded playoff era. Are you saying that you're cool or okay with losing to them?

For me our definition of 'competitive' differs.

First, we keep glossing over the fact that Day has ONE non top 5 loss in 5 years. ONE! That in of itself is insane. Without looking it up, going to say no one else can say that, probably not for a while actually. I mean can the guy get some credit for winning the games he is supposed to win literally better than anyone else?

Second, 1-3 in CFP works for me as an average. Three coaches have 20 of the 27 all time playoff wins - everyone else pales in comparison. Tress was 1-2. Urban was 2-1, but does he get a pass for the losses he had that kept him out of further opportunities?

Third, 1-3 is not an acceptable outcome. But it's disingenuous to not at least acknowledge no coach except maybe Woody had a tougher stretch in the Game.

So given the above. I'm think Day is our best bet going forward. He loses at home next year, I stop caring about the first two points and then we can tell him to go get his bag in the NFL or elsewhere. Even then, until he stings together a couple of wins and get to .500, he remains on my 'hot seat'.

I feel this is about as reasonable a take I can have for not wanting to show him the door tomorrow, as you seem to feel is the only correct answer.

All of you guys who are staunch Day supporters keep moving the goal posts back a year every time he loses.

Same shit as Cooper years.

There will be some howling for him to stay up to the very last minute no matter how many times we lose The Game or lose 2/3 of the time in the CFP. Hey. We will always have those big wins over MSU and Indiana to celebrate and tell our kids about!

Ahh there it is.

Yet another reiteration of "give me a name or shut the fuck up" to make the bad man stop telling you the coach doesn't have any clothes on.

It's a stupid fucking argument as I have covered in 20-30 posts today.

Yes lol. I’m cool with losing to them if we win a NC/high win seasons. I really could care less. I realize people feel differently but I just want wins when it matters. I’m an OOS kid who came to OSU for the academic/athletic opportunity (much like the star players on our team), I’m not born and bred in the rivalry like many others, admittedly. Beating them is not a way of life for me even as I became a buckeye in ‘02 and grew accustomed to beating them every year. I knew eventually it would end. Don’t like 3x in a row, but if we can play for championships, it is what it is.
