Correct. In Cooper's first 5 years he was 35-11-3. Not beating Michigan was only one of his problems.Cooper was losing 6 and 4 games while his team had off field antics and his team would quit on him. The only comparison is a losing record to Michigan.
But there was a clear and available preference over CooperAgree, idiots wanted Mason. Those of us who went to YSU playoff games in the 90s wanted Tressel. Thankfully, OSU made the wise choice.
You win with talent in CFB and cwrtain Coaches recruit that talent based off of winning and stability. Regardless of how you feel about Day, he wins most of time and produces proven NFL talent in the skill positions (CB, WR, RB, and most importantly QB). Yes, that’s something we need out of a coach to eventually win big, even if it didn’t happen today. Of course, I want to beat TSUN and our 1 opponents, but people act like everything I just named is easily replicable with another coach. College football is full of coaches who can only do 1: coach or recruit. We have a coach who can do both well, albeit he probably recruits a little better than he coaches. Can anyone name someone who will realistically do both at a high level in year one? Because one thing I do agree with it that there can be no drop off in top level relevance…
The arguments I'm seeing to defend Day would've been done with Cooper.
"He wins most of his games."
"Look at his recruiting classes."
I'm not the AD and I don't have a list of candidates, so skip that line. I'm just saying we have to consider that Day - in his first ever head coaching job - may have a ceiling in spite of his high floor.
If you're content with the floor, cool. If you're willing to risk it in pursuit of a higher ceiling, we're on the same page.
Give me a name or shut the fuck up
But there was a clear and available preference over Cooper
You really need to stop comparing Day with Cooper. So you don't think it's possible to put guys in the NFL (and therefore be a recruiting destination) as has been the cas esince the 1950's AND be competitive in The Game/CFP?
We have to choose to recruit like Day (and the past 30+ years of coaches before him) has done but be ok with losing games against anyone with a pulse?
We should have just kept Cooper then.
You really need to stop comparing Day with Cooper.
With a running qbDay can bring him in as run game analyst. Say what you will about chip but his teams could run the fucking ball
Fuck you too. I don't have to give you or anyone else a name just because you think your bullshit logic carries any weight.
Cooper lost 21 games and tied 3 in his first 5 seasons. The loses included Hall of Fame, Liberty and Citrus bowls. Big games he lost indeed. Why?
.250% win % is that much better than .160%?
Both shat themselves in a big game with equal aplomb.
