He's not. His job will consist entirely of showing up at university functions and glad handing donors. He won't even do the actual fundraising, as that will be passed off to professionals. Like I said, he's pretty much a casino greeter. UT just felt the need to put some academic trappings on it and perhaps put it under the budget of an academic department that wouldn't object.

Look at this bullshit. They're actually comparing him to Archie: a guy who graduated early with a degree in Industrial Relations and then worked his way up through the system in a series of real university jobs.

I'll say it again, VY is being paid his wonderlic score to be a glorified casino greeter.

He's honestly been doing this job for the past few years anyway. He's a God in Austin, and in pretty much most of Texas. I worked at a prominent hotel in Austin and ran into VY several times holding court with Mack Brown with some good ol boys . And he was known to frequently have boosters at his restaurant in Austin as well. This position isn't much of a surprise and could be seen coming the minute his (brief) NFL career came to an end and he enrolled at UT to finish his degree(for show). UT was going to make sure they're most famous sports alum stayed relevant and didn't become a laughingstock in football circles like their last biggest football star(Ricky Williams).

Charlie Strong ain't messing around. Kinda makes you wonder what kind of country club shit Mack was fostering there. They can't go a week without suspending and/or kicking somebody off the team.
