I kinda get it. Herman was basically a dead man walking who was already dropping recruits left and right because everyone knew he was on such thin ice.
And Sarkisian seems to be a decent recruiter... he consistently had Washington in the 20s nationally and he quickly brought in the #2 class in the country at USC in his one-ish year there before being fired
And he’s supposed to be a QB guru.
This feels like he was brought in because they are desperate to turn around recruiting, and very specifically they are desperate not to lose Quinn Ewers out of their back yard.
Here’s hoping Sarkisian can’t overcome the comfort and relationships that Ohio State has already established. That’s almost certainly going to be one of the top things he’s focusing on in the next twelve months.
But as I said in my initial take, in a job where managing difficult personalities—constantly meddling boosters and Texas HS coaches—hiring someone with well known personal issues, specifically drug and alcohol abuse, might not lead to the results you are hoping for.
But desperate times call for desperate measures, clearly.
