Anyone for slightly late Aussie Open predictions? (Hint: Don't pick Ljubicic)

Men: Roddick
Women: Sharapova
Well, sorry to be so late here - this tournament kind of snuck up on me... Sharapova survived quite the scare last night. Assuming that was just some sort of heat-induced fluke and there's nothing wrong with her (and in fairness, because I would have picked her before I saw that match) I guess I'll go with her, too. It seems the American men may actually have legitimate condtenders again, too. I'd like to see Roddick do well, but I'd also love to see Blake continue the success he had last week in Sydney to win his first major.

Men: Blake
Women: Sharapova

And... here's to hoping Kim Clijsters has a solid final season. I've always been a big fan of hers.

Roddick is much improved, though.
Yes, the Connors protege has looked much better... it's been great to see. I'm really looking forward to the Roddick/Federer match. It's too bad they have to meet in the semis - they really should be meeting in the finals. Something tells me I'm gonna be up all night watching that one live...

I dont know. Fernando Gonzales got a new coach and he was looked very impressive. He beat Blake, and Nadal, easily might I add.

I was surprised how Gonzales dominated Nadal. Rafa needs to learn to deal with short slices to the backhand, because everybody will try it since Gonzales used it so effectively.

I'm shocked at how badly Roddick got beat by Federer.

I'll be pulling for Serena in the final, but I think she'll get smoked by Sharapova, who needed to break serve in round 1 to stay in the tournament.

Roddick is good and looked improved, but he didn't have to play anyone that good. His toughest opponent, aside from Roger, was Mario Ancic. Safin is good, and my favorite player, but you never know which Marat will come out. He is good, but everybody goes crazy over over him. He is not at the level of Roger or Rafa.

I can't say that I've been that big of a tennis fan since the great days of McEnroe/Borg/Connors. That being said, I thing it's great what Serena is doing thus far. Was a great match last night that got alot closer than I'm sure she had hoped for but she rebounded in the end like a true champion. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow and watching Sharapova's long-tanned wheels chasing Serena's winners around the court en-route to her 8th Grand Slam title. Best of luck Miss Williams!!

What's gotten into Mr. Gonzalez? I can't say I ever expected as dominant a run as he's had through the field. I wish Murray could have finished off Nadal, as I think Murray-Gonzalez could have been a fun match to watch.
Gonzalez does look great. I'll admit, his match with Haas was the first I've really seriously watched of his in a couple years, and he's quite a different player - he's lost the old wildness. The final will be interesting... as much as I thought Roddick was improved, he still wasn't in the same league as Federer. Does Gonzo have a chance?

For the record, in response to bigballin's comment, I thought the Roddick/Safin match was a good one, and I was pleased to see both of them playing well after their respective struggles the past couple years. I hope Safin continues his improvement - he's always been one of my favorites, too.

And whether Serena wins or loses tomorrow, this tournament has no doubt been a huge success for her and should give her the confidence to put together a strong season. Great to see American tennis looking up!

Yep, though I have my doubts as to how well she's going to be able to run around on clay given her current shape.

Just saw the stats on the Gonzo match. 42 winners to 3 unforced errors. That's unbelievable.
