TE Jeremy Ruckert (New York Jets)

Realize they play different positions but with the news of Grimes transferring it’s just that much bigger to have an immediate impact type pass catcher like Ruckert coming in. Plus AJ is gone now who I thought showed promise in the Spring game.

I just see this guy coming in and having every opportunity to demand a lot of targets if he’s the stud I think he is.

Hope you are ready young man.

Anyone who thinks “yeah, we always say we will throw to the TE and yet we don’t” well all I can say are 3 things.

Think about Haskins arm and the type of passing attack he has compared to JT. Then look at Wilson’s history with TEs and then finally go watch some of Ruckerts film and 7 on 7 stuff, etc.

Would not shock me at all to see him step right in and be a big part of the scheme.

Not trying to argue that this kid has talent but I do have a couple issues with this. I mean 7 on 7 is nice and all but Shane Morris was good at it. Can he run block? Does he block downfield? Seems like it's required if you want the ball thrown your way is all. When was it decided that Haskins will be the clear starter next year? I think the QB battle this off season will be some amazing stuff. Tate seems like a kid that is going to put in the work. He doesn't lose and the bench doesn't seem like a position he's just going to accept without a fight.

Obviously I hope this kid comes in and just kills it.

Believe Urban said it’s the most talented TE he’s ever recruited.

Yes, you absolutely have to block to play.

Point simply was that he possesses some skills in the passing game we haven’t seen in the Meyer era. He’s literally different than other TEs in that regard. Maybe I’m too hyped I just think he brings something we don’t have currently. If this kid can learn the system and “earn it” then I suspect he will garner a fair amount of game planning in Wilson and Days scheme.

*edit: I realize we have some pass catching TEs on the team, I just mean Ruckert is different in the sense that he runs routes and plays like a really big WR.

I believe Urban said something similar about Aaron Hernandez as well. He also has saved about Hausman's talent in the past.

I think the blocking aspect is a big part of being a college TE. He has the pass catching talent, but must get the blocking down.

Yeah, the #1 TE in the nation says a lot. He seems to have the skill set to be a Mark Andrews from OK kind of impact player.

Would not be shocked if he starts his career as a situational player. Line him up in the slot when we are playing between the 20s or line him out wide once inside the 20s

He probably won't be strong enough to block traditionally against defensive ends. However line him up in the slot and get him on a LB or a Safety and he will ruin their life.

Just about put him in position to be successful. This guy is going to be a monster

Marcus Baugh wasn't the most devastating blocker in the history of the TE position.

If this kid is as advanced a pass catcher as the hype suggest then I'm sure they'll find a way to get him on the field until the blocking catches up.

Exactly. Just like JK had many reps even though he needs to develop as a blocker.

This kid is too big of an offensive weapon not to use him. If there was one player, barring an injury, I’d bet the house on not redshirting it’s him.

The explosion of the RPO enhances the opportunity, not only for such a great athlete but a potentially more physical approach in the flats.

Marcus finally made some strides this year but was still rough around the edges as a blocker.
