TE J.T. Moore (Official Thread)

Moore is a captain for his Boardman, playing on both sides of the ball. Lots of quotes from him and his coach about the Boardman team and what's been asked of Moore this season. Lots of good stuff and a fairly glowing representation of J.T. Moore.

Moore was OSU's first 2010 commitment.

More than a year ago, Ohio State welcomed its first verbal member of the class of 2010 when Youngstown (Ohio) Boardman's J.T. Moore offered his commitment. Now with Moore in the second half of his senior season, BuckeyeSports.com caught up with the four-star prospect for his thoughts on both his present and his future on the gridiron.

YOUNGSTOWN On a night when GlenOak needed a big game in the air, the Golden Eagles got one.
. . .
Martin struggled running and passing. The Eagles couldn?t get its power running game going and couldn?t run on the edge, either.

It was difficult to do anything with Boardman?s front four ? Noah Patoray, Jabrill Garner, J.T. Moore and Kevin Johnson ? controlling the line.

?That?s one of the best defensive lines maybe in the state,? Garcia said. ?We got handled.?

J.T. Moore Making Progress | Ohio State Buckeyes College Football Recruiting, OSU Big Ten Football, OSU Basketball – Bucknuts.com

After Week 3, we took a quick look at J.T. Moore from Boardman high school and since then I have just updated his video with four more games of highlights.

Just last week, J.T. Moore moved from DE to DT and rotated around the defensive line. I like this move for two reasons: 1) J.T. has too much quickness for inside guys and his "get off" helped him to be very disruptive. 2) By moving him around, it makes it harder for the defense to run away from him from a game plan standpoint.

When J.T. Moore was playing DE for the last few seasons, teams could conveniently just run the opposite way. Moore has now played OLB, DE, and now DT over the past three seasons for Boardman. ( I can even remember him playing MLB for just a few snaps a season ago) Although it is still to be determined where Moore will line up at OSU, the versatility that he shows now will benefit him in his development down the road.

I liked Moore a lot better in this years film...he is just tough to move and he plays his assignments well. He squeezes down on the run in a hurry and while he isn't explosive, he is always around the ball. I think a 4 star status is warranted with this round of film.

Spartans impose their will on Fitch

...
Ohio State football recruit, J.T. Moore, chipped in with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
...
The Spartans' inside game which features Moore along with 6-foot-5 Chase Hammond, who will play football at Wisconsin next year, and sophomore Dayne Hammond, began to take a toll on the Falcons.

"We wanted to dominate in the paint," Goske said. "We felt we had an advantage inside and that was an area we should be able to dominate in and I'm glad we were able to get the job done inside tonight."
...
It was much more of the same in the third quarter as Robinson and Moore helped Boardman push the lead out to 58-37 before Fitch mounted a mini-rally in the final four minutes of the game.

Another guy who's getting no attention at all, but have made a vast improvement in his game. This was a guy that everyone thought was a tad slow, and now he's gotten to the point where coaches are comparing him to Thad. Again, very underrated.

I still don't think he has quite the athleticism to be a LEO, but it will be interesting to see what he ends up looking like once he can dedicate offseasons to weightlifting. He does have a great motor and a wonderful ability to get off blocks (one of the best I've seen in some time), so he should be a benefit against opposing running attacks, if nothing else.
