This is classic....

Since when does any college football teams have one and dones? Even if they did, how would that make any team a top 10 program. I guess Northwestern is now a top 10 basketball program.

I think they were referring to bye games as a one and done. They want a home and home series...not a one time road game.

I understand the TCU hate, but the real "fuck you" should be directed toward Wisconsin. They don't deserve a do-over.

Wisconsin didn't broach the idea. ESPN did. Why should Wisconsin get a fuck you for saying "sure we'll play them again"?

Wiscy wasn't the one who spouted off "anyone, anywhere, anytime...".

i think what this fan referred to is tcu no longer agreeing to a game against a big program without a return trip, hence the poor choice of "one-and-done."

i see tcu's point here, though. they just beat wisconsin in the biggest bowl game that the badgers have played in a decade. tcu will be in an aq conference (i know, it's just the big east) after next season. the horned frogs shouldn't have to capitulate.

heck, what pisses me off is that this is yet another example of wisconsin not agreeing to fair terms. their policy is also not to agree to night games at a conference opponent's site. meanwhile, they want each home game against ohio state to be under the lights.

wisconsin is a hypocritical program whose non-conference scheduling has been piss-poor for years. down the road, they play virginia tech in a home-and-home; otherwise, they will play so-so programs like washington state, oregon state, arizona state, and washington. that is sorry.

badgers, if you want to be elite, start acting elite.

Like Florida State did in the early 80s, TCU will have to suck it up and go to some major players' stadiums and beat them there - proving themselves, it you will. Wisky (like OSU) has bills to pay and can't give away home dates to mid-majors with a superiority complex.

if tcu's opponent at question were not wisconsin, then i would agree. given the badger's recent loss to the horned frogs and given wisconsin's general hypocrisy, i have to side with tcu.

Certainly legitimate. And while they are certainly in different situations, I can't help think about FSU. They were an "up and comer" and needed to win big games against big time competition. The only way to do this (for them) was to go to OSU, go to Nebraska, etc. TCU needs to do the same. Winning on neutral fields doesn't quite get you there. Remember, TCU already ducked OSU once.

i agree with your general point. specific to this situation, however, i cannot side with the badgers. had, say, nebraska invited tcu to play without a return trip, then i would side with nebraska.

True enough. Wisky did have their shot at them in the Rose Bowl. Getting to major bowl games and winning them was also part of the FSU rise to prominence. In that respect, TCU certainly prevailed.

People talk about these kind of matchups all the time as lose-lose situations for big-time programs. If you lose the game... ridicule. If you win, you don't deserve credit because you're just doing what you were supposed to do.

Now the roles are reversed. TCU won their game against Wisky in the Rose Bowl. The returns are diminished if they play them again and win again, but if they lose it could totally undo what they did in the Rose Bowl. It makes no sense to play them again. They should however be seeking legitimate matchups against other teams, though I'm not sure invoking Dr. Gee in the media is the best way to initiate discussions.

My advice is if you don't want to get big-timed by a small-time program, don't lose to one.

Exactly. So eff you Wiscy you piece of shit. You should be ashamed of your Bucky-assed self for that loss.

[censored] TCU, their billboard and the shinebox they carried in for being cowards.

[censored] Wiscy for embarrassing the Big Ten by losing to a bunch of shinebox toting, billboard buying cowards in the first place.

There, that about covers it.
