Regarding Ohio State's defense being able to stop Ryan Mallett....
The Buckeyes have already beaten Mallett once, in 2007. Mallett played sparingly in that game because Michigan's starting QB was Chad Henne, Michigan's all-time career leader in yards (9,715) and touchdown passes (87). Henne was taken in the second round of the 2008 NFL draft (57th overall).
Henne was throwing to two of the best wide receivers in Michigan's history, namely Mario Manningham (137 receptions, 2,310 yards, 27 TD's in three seasons) and Adrian Arrington (109 receptions, 1,438 yards, and 16 TD's in three seasons). Manningham was taken in the third round of the 2008 NFL draft (95th overall), and Arrington in the seventh (237th overall).
In addition, Michigan's starting running back was Mike Hart, who is the Wolverines' all-time leading rusher (5,040 yards, with 41 TD's). Hart was taken in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL draft (202nd overall).
But the best player on the Wolverines' offense was left tackle Jake Long, who was the first overall selection in the 2008 NFL draft.
Michigan's best offense ever? Quite possibly.
The result? Three points and 91 total yards.
So go ask Ryan Mallett what he thinks of Ohio State's defense....
