Any history-minded Razorback fans interested in giving an overview of the highlights of Razorback football history? Top years, top coaches, hatred for UTx vs. switch to the SEC, etc?

What you may not know about us is that we too used to be there alongside you guys back in the days of Woody Hays.* We too were nationally competitive for a 30+ year period.* When we entered the SEC, our roster was decimated and we had no talent; proof of that is a loss to a I-AA team in the opening game of 1992 (the Citadel).*

Our coach at that time was Jack Crowe.* He was fired the next day, and our program further plunged into terribleness for 6 straight years.* In '98 we hired Houston Nutt to replace Danny Ford, who took over in the '93 season.* Ironically, Crowe's Jacksonville State squad beat Nutt's Ole Miss Black Bear/Rebels/Admiral Ackbars at the beginning of this season.*

What does that have to do with Ohio State?* Well, it seems that yall are afflicted with the same conservatism that we suffered under during the "Decade of Mediocrity" that was Nutt's time here.* I saw one of you posted a play chart for each down with corresponding results.* It looked vaguely familiar.*

Hog fans during that time pleaded for balance, and were promised just that during each offseason of Nutt's tenure.* Year after year Nutt made fools of us, as we fans believed in his empty promises up until around 2006.* He hired "high school," the 2010 Broyles award winner, and that would be the beginning of the end for him.* Then around this time in 2007, we lucked into the guy we've got now.*

In three short years he has accomplished nothing short of a miracle in rebuilding this roster, this team, this school, these fans, and this state.* No longer do we expect to have a "run-run-draw-punt" offense, but finally have the promise of balance, despite waiting for it for so long and it being delivered by a different coach.*

Our fans have been salivating for this moment for a long, long time.* Our "national championship under construction" is nearing completion.* Like you guys, we plan on contending every year from here on in.*

Brief history in just a few lines.

Hugo Bezdek 1909 "Played like a wild band of Razorback Hogs" Mascot changed from Cardinal to Razorback
Frank Broyles 1964 National Championship. Got the Hogs started as a college football power. Great stretches under Broyles, Holtz, Hatfield.
Arkansas screwed countless times by Southwest conferences officials. Incredible hatred for Texas. Foreseeing collapse of SWC, Hogs leave to join SEC with South Carolina.
Houston Nutt "Mediocrity" Era. Filled with drama, Hog fanbase split. Nutt leaves for Mississippi.
Get lucky in our hiring of Petrino. Attitude down here is slowly changing from "we're just little ole Arkansas" back to an attitude where we expect to win big games.

Now that's a cool piece of history. So you could've been the Arkansas Cardinals? Never heard that before...

Awful.

Seriously son, stop posting. You're making us look bad.

Kind of makes me wish Schlegel (former MLB, transfer from Air Force, and native of Texas, who apparently, in his spare time, hunted wild hogs with a knife) was still on the roster.

Does pure Longhorn hatred still course through the veins of the (relatively) old-timers, or has that mostly dissipated?

No, ONLY season ticket holders (which are also donors who give a MINIMUM of $1500) were in the pre sale.

Your Razorback Foundation is similar donation level to our alumni club. Different donation club, season ticket holders give to the Presidents and Buckeye Club, which are a minimum $1500 donation. Alumni club only allows donors 1 game a year for tickets, and no BCS pre sale. If Ohio State would have included the alumni club (again, similar donation to your Razorback Club) there would not have been a public sale. This is something I would like to see changed.

Yes, I had to go on-line and get my tiks. I was mildly surprised that alumni weren't offered before the general public.....

My take.

Long time Hog fan and supporter here. I'm just gonna shoot from the hip on this one. First off, I hope OSU(like the last 6 teams we played did)overlooks our rushing game.
Kniles Davis, in only 8 games, has 1,183 yds and 13 td's.
Dan Herron, during the whole season, has 1,068 yds and 15 td's.
Edge=(With Davis only playing 8 games)Hogs

And putting all your emphasis on our passing game won't help anyway. That's what every team did and we beat all of them but two. Both of which we had at least a 10 point lead on.
R. Mallet, 3,592 yds, 30 td's, 11 INT, rating=170.5
T. Pryor, 2,551 yds, 25 td's, 11 INT, rating=158.0
Edge=Hogs

Receiving matchup? Lol, it's not even a matchup. But I'll post just for the fun of it.
ARK, 277 catches for 4,061 yds, and 34 td's.
OSU, 214 catches for 2,750 yds, and 28 td's.

I looked at the team to team stats of your loss to Wisconsin. Why you got beat? OSU had 5.6 yards per pass. WIS had 9.5 yards per pass. Also, you gave up 4.3 yards per rush to your 3.8. 3 of Wisconsin's 4 td's were rushing td's. Wisconsin kept you to 155 yards rushing that game.

Overview: OSU only played 3 top 25 teams all year, beating #12 Miami and #20 Iowa, and losing to #18 Wisconsin. OSU did not beat, let alone play anyone in the top 10 all season. ARK played 5 top 25 teams all season, losing to #1 ALA by 4 points and losing to #7 AUB. ARK beat #19 USC, #21 MISS ST, and #5 LSU. We beat the 5th ranked team in the country and you didn't even play anyone in the top 10 and you lost to #18. The only thing I see giving OSU an advantage is their defense, one of the best in the nation. Besides that, everything else leans in Arkansas' favor. If your D doesn't show up then it is going to be a long ride back to Ohio. That being said I think it's gong to be an awesome game. OSU is one of the most dominant teams in college history and a top tier football program. I have read alot of garbage on other forums and most OSU fans are basically blowing this game off and already celebrating a win. Keep in mind, that's the same thing LSU did before they rolled into Little Rock. Assume a win all you want. ARK has been tested harder than OSU. We are coming in with the 6th hardest schedule in the nation, 3rd in the nation in passing, a 10-2 record and we are still hyped up after beating #5 LSU. I see this game being an awesome battle. Two of the top passers in the game and two of the best offenses in the nation. This WILL be the bowl game of the year. Good luck to OSU, cheers to another great season, much respect, it's gonna be a great game and looking forward to playing the great OSU. And to those of you OSU fans already predicting a win; didn't you learn anything the last two times you predicted wins in the title games? I'll leave you and your team with one word: PREPARE

Excellent.

Your passive-aggressive arrogance is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Hopefully, neither team overlooks the other since this is a BCS game after all.

Good luck and we'll see you in Nawlins.

Not arrogance, just enthusiasm and respectable trash talking, lol. I'm not gonna come on OSU's board and talk a lot of smack about a team that I know is one of the best. But as a college FB fan you have to boast a little bit here and there about the team you support. I'm not downplaying OSU in any way, I know it's gonna be a battle and probably our biggest test of the year. Us hog fans are just glad to be where we are and getting some kind of respect. Hopefully Bobby doesn't bail after the Sugar Bowl and head to Florida.

When your first post displays reasoning that the game shouldn't even be played, because of Arkansas' superiority; then you're definitely displaying arrogance (along with a number of other traits). It's the same trash we read on BP last year from Duck fans.
