Steroid/HGH Speculation

WITHOUT A DOUBT. The backbone of modern sports is pharmaceutical enhancement.
FIFY.

Outside of getting caught, I'm not sure what there is to be ashamed of anymore. I find it depressing, but it's far too rampant to care or look down on anyone these days.

I think that is just the process they have because these are pretty serious things. They take two samples every time. If your first sample tests positive, they have to go back and test the second one.
I also think there was an investigation involved before going through with the suspension (was this stuff documented? from when to when? what were they used for? etc..).

Edit- to piggy back off of jwins and Bill Simmons thoughts, this stuff is so prevalent that I'm not sure what to even think. It's just the way it was for this era, kind of sucks that I've had to grow up in an era of rampant "cheating" and some superstars (well, everyone, I guess) is tainted because of it, but that's the way it is.

I'll never believe JR. was juiced. I refuse.

Although there was a question about who did it, everybody knew that JR was 'shot' almost 30 years ago.

I've always liked Junior, but his injury history raises a flag in my mind.

I thought part of the reason guys juiced was to shorten healing? Besides, imo, Griffey's body type didn't really change from the time he matured physically until now. Sure he got a bit bigger from his rookie year...but he was 18 his rookie year.

Just lie to me and say you agree. Baseball was my first love. I was a bat boy for my older brothers team when I was four years old, and started playing when I was six. I don't think I could take it if it was discovered Griff was on the juice.

There's no way Griffey took steroids. No way.

Are you, by chance, a Reds fan?

You can't say there is no way. I'm 100% certain Cal Ripken didn't take them when there is a small voice in the back of my head that says it wouldn't be shocked if he had.

Not a Reds fan. And yes, I know in this day and age it's impossible to make an unequivocal statement like that, but I have so much respect for Griffey that I would find it really hard to believe that he was juicing. Besides, the more I say it, the more I believe it.

Look at "young" players like Griffey, Manny, Sosa in your baseball card stack and see what they evolved into.

Grifffey had damn near the perfect baseball body when he emerged in 1989. Manny and Sosa were skinny fuckers that cheated their way to the top with outrageous biceps and shoulders. Griff gained his "mature" stature without breaking out of his uniform like those two other losers.

There is NO WAY in hell that Griff ever juiced, and I'm only a fan of his because I love the game of baseball. If he ever did, then he'd be at about 1,089 Home Runs by now.

There is one, however, as a Tribe fan that raises big brows. What about Hafner? Dude was wicked 4-3 years ago, but NOW he's 25 pounds lighter and cant hit for shit. Was it an "Injury"???? Inquiring minds want to know.

Peace.

Two ways to look at that (pro enhancement):
1. One of the side supposed side effects of steroid abuse is that it makes you more prone to injury.
2. His lengthy injury history may have pushed him to use them to heal...it just wasn't effective.

Either way, I feel your pain. Junior was my favorite non-Indian baseball player growing up...I had his poster on my wall as a teenager. Loved the way "the kid" played the game. But, his numbers ballooned in the late nineties when the HR's were flying out of the park with everyone else (160 HR from '97-'99) and his body started breaking down shortly after that. Major flag IMO.

Yep, very unfortunate, but very true.

Pujols??

I don't think he's dumb enough to get caught though. Seems like an HGH guy if he were to continue using. And let's be serious, if we're going by body type, Pujols is target #1.

I'd suggest reading the article in Sports Illustrated in March this year. There are some players in the world that are naturally gifted.

Albert Pujols is the Best Player in Baseball, and he - 03.16.09 - SI Vault

That's all I have to say.
