Spring Fundraiser and a New Server (Merged)

Good job so far, but we still have a way to go.....

FYI - according to Alexa.com, a site that provides data on other websites, the average load time on BuckeyePlanet is 3.2 seconds, and BP is rated as a "slow" site; apparently, BP is slower than 79% of all other websites rated. These facts alone should highlight the need for a new server, especially when you consider that the site will only continue to become slower as traffic continues to increase.
for what it is worth, we look to compare pretty well right now with the-ozone...

I sent in my check two days ago....

This site is certainly the best free football message board that I've seen and in regard to the range and quality of the fora (thats the plural of "forum" isn't it?) it certainly has CougZone beat (a rivals site that I've ponied up for a full year). I'm even contemplating getting a shirt! If nothing else I may have to get one for the 2009 WSU/tOSU game in Seattle or Pullman so I get a chance to meet some of you fanatics. No doubt one of you would spot me..."Who the hell is that idiot with the WSU hat and the BuckeyePlanet shirt?"

Go Cougs!

That is definately traffic, and the validity of the data is somewhat questionable, since it is based off users that have the Alexa tool bar (i.e. if everyone on this site used it, then our numbers would skyrocket regardless of actual unique users)

We have a minor problem. Our profits were riding on selling the extras at the spring game. Once we sell the extra shirts, we will have a truckload of profit to donate. However, we're gonna need everyone's help to sell shirts to their friends and others around them. We'll figure something out and post the plan tomorrow. The shirts turned out really well so it will not be hard to sell them with everyone's help. Us t-shirt salesmen were quite disappointed with the weather cuz if it had been 60 degrees and sunny we would have run out of them quite quickly.

Allthough I'm not sure about this I think there would be some legal issues with selling these on ebay
If it was OK to sell these over BP, then why not on e-Bay?
(You've gone to great trouble to make these purely a BP style logo / font etc, tOSU is nowhere to be seen -- though we all know its a Buckeye shirt).

However, while I don't know about legal issues, one thing for sure E-bay selling will take a slice of the pay. (Many would buy from e-Bay using PayPal for instance).

T-shirts on ebay will be a decent fallback plan. The problem is we lose a portion of the money to ebay for the auction listing, and then the paypal tax takes a portion of that remaining money. So we lose on two accounts.

For now, we're gonna work on selling as many shirts as we can via word of mouth (get out there and start soliciting people).

Make sure to check out the picture I uploaded of the shirt to show people... plus SIMV's list of what shirts we have left (scroll up for that).
