St. was the only team that had success in that area last year. In your opinion, was there something in OSU's scheme or personnel that gave them an edge, or was it more USC having a bad game (I didn't see the whole game). Do you think that there is anything The Buckeyes can take from that game for this year?

In an interesting development, J.B. Shugarts was the first-team left tackle. Andy Miller, who had been sharing time with Mike Adams at first-team left tackle in earlier practices, was the first-team left guard today, a move that came with Boren's injury. Jim Cordle, the left guard last year, stayed at right tackle. Adams did no work with the first team at left tackle today. Shugarts remains someone to keep an eye on in that left tackle competition.

Brown was USC LT the minute Baker left, much to usc fans surprise. LT needs to be the most reliable position IMO. Its obvious OSU is struggling to find that guy right now.

Brewster suddenly broke into the lineup last year after the SC loss (too good to keep off the field), and Shugart might have too at RT had he not gotten hurt (at least that was my impression from reading the rumor mill). These two are the hungry puppies that we have and it's no surprise that they are working themselves into the lineup.
I think there's a little less panic given the mobility of the QB.But Left Tackle is left tackle. I dunno, I would be uneasy about it.
Chekwa is back, but OSU loses their other top-2 corners. Replacing them:Who replaces Jenkins?
OSU has had somewhat interchangeable #2/#3 CBs for 3 years now. Also, OSU uses field & boundary corners rather than #1/#2.NateG;1519303; said:Chekwah is locked right now. Amos recently got jumped by Torrence so another spot where whoever plays the best in game one could be the "starter" but the LB/DB has some good depth too.

Chekwa is back, but OSU loses their other top-2 corners. Replacing them:
1. Devon Torrence - 07 played WR sparingly (wasted year and redshirt), moved back to CB last year. Mostly a special teams guy.
2. Andre Amos - 05 recruit, injured for most of his career, finally close to healthy. Back up CB last year. Last meaningful accomplishment was shutting down Mario Manningham in the Ohio all-star game (after Mario smoked the other corners for 3 early TDs).
3. Travis Howard - Redshirt frosh, HS teammate of Etienne Sabino. Good young corner, probably not ready quite yet.
Then the rest:
True frosh Corey Brown, Dominic Clarke & CJ Barnett. Only CJ enrolled early, but the other two might be more talented.
Backup CB Donnie Evege
It depends. OSU has a "star" position, which is basically a S/LB hybrid that replaces the 3rd LB against spread formations. That player was Jermale Hines (who got injured and was replaced by Moeller).USCStephen;1519306; said:Doesn't sound exactly deep. Would Amos then be your nickel?
