that's because they didn't. And they shouldn't now either, even though Russia's anti-gay laws are over the top and that's putting it mildly. Just because it's a pet issue of the media in the US doesn't mean we need to hear about it during the Olympics.
Yeah it had little to do with Putin's blatant homophobic laws to cover his obvious homosexual tendencies.

The part I was referencing was the attack on communism. It felt like the announcer was making up for not having had the opportunity to rail against the Soviet Union in '80 & '84.

Well I do avoid the opening ceremonies like the damn plague

You caught that too didn't you. At the beginning of the women's skiathon.

It's one thing to do it at a special event or some type of highlight. They seem to be doing it with every single event though.

If you listen to the online live stream, where it's not NBC but rather the international broadcaster (usually British), it's not that bad.

Dude was breathless talking about the last 100 meters of the Biathlon....and it wasn't like he was talking about the guy in 1st, he was talking about guys battling for 5th a few times

I watched Beijing's OC because it was the good Olympics and I was bored. It turned out pretty cool. I watched this one because my girlfriend's son was about to cry if he missed it. It turned out to be the second biggest mistake of my life. The first being knocking up a woman who's 12 year old son nearly cries because my 3 year old heathen daughter kept turning off the tv. I can only assume she knew how lame they were going to be.

Link? Thanks in advance.

It's just the NBC Live Extra for the Olympics. Usually it's in the video section: http://www.nbcolympics.com/video

You'll have to know when your specific event starts and it'll probably be in the morning, but not one NBC broadcaster yet on the streams (since it's the international feed).

Honestly, it's better sound quality. You can actually hear coaches instructions and athletes talking.

But you'll also need a cable subscription, but that's another subject.

Deadspin gave out a few good ways to watch the Olympics:

They raised the threshold for a positive test to 150 ng/ml last year. Basically they just don't want people smoking around the time they're going to be competing.

It was for their cataracts.

I swore a weightlifter in Beijing '08 set off a test drinking Red Bull or something. Those IOC substance lists change constantly and read like tax code.
