One thing I do wish was worked on was the social media section of the NBC Live Extra (to stream the live Olympic events).

If you don't go full screen and if your event video buffers (it will), sometimes they Tweet out results before you see the event/race.

Four Rings

I continue to try to figure out who Putin will either have killed or jail due to the Olympic ring mishap during the Opening Ceremony.

Someone will either die or be jailed or both.

That was our conversation while watching the ring malfunction last night--they cut to a shot of Putin walking to his seat and we were speculating he'd been out changing his coat because of the blood spatters from personally executing #5 Snowflake Engineer.

Those who watched 'til the end--a little help. I see NOTHING online about it, so now (since the kid left early and I was watching alone) I have no one to confirm that I heard what I heard. And the commentators said it twice--that is, I heard them say it. When they projected the luminous images of athletes as if they were constellations of stars, did they not say "Putin said this was to represent that athletes were gods"?

On "Today" Saturday, I think it was Lester Holt (or someone) said that in Russia (Russia TV), they cut or used the snowflake scene from rehearsals. So the Russian people probably didn't know there was a malfunction, unless they read about it.

Anyone else think the NBC announcers got really political during the OC? It's not like they were lying, but I don't remember them taking China to task two years ago.

that's because they didn't. And they shouldn't now either, even though Russia's anti-gay laws are over the top and that's putting it mildly. Just because it's a pet issue of the media in the US doesn't mean we need to hear about it during the Olympics.
