Shoelace and the Heisman - where's Denard finish?

I knew D-rob was in trouble after the first 2 series. I think I counted 5 big hits on him. I think the dislocated finger thing was made up. He just didn't want to get hit again. He didn't get hit like that 5 times in his first 6 games.
Yeah, Cam, Nathan and B-Rolle dislocated some of his dreads, so he had to walk. He made up the story about dislocated fingers so that the Michigan fanbase wouldn't be completely crushed to learn that both their football team and his hair got fucked up that afternoon.

he should? why?

he's a true sophmore. my reasoning is that he'll be bigger next year. Another year in the system as the starter with improved mechanics and ability to read defenses. Quicker decision making abilities and an improved backfield to take some of the pressure off of him.

This of course is in my IMO.....

Michigan QBs don't get 'bigger' under Barwis. They get 'swole.'

Tater's words, not mine.

I'm curious to see if in year 3 he finally starts running the read option.

When Denard keeps the ball on the "option" plays (I'm not talking about the direct keepers), he doesn't seem to be reading. They look more like playaction fakes, where the ball is nowhere near the mesh point and has no real chance of a handoff.

Contrast this with the motion and body language on the "gives", where he has it right in the backs gut and is very deliberate about the handoff, with a brief fake to try to trick the D into thinking he keeps it.

^^^^ The above is a keep by Tate , see the ball position as well as the four hands on the ball.

Compare that to the read option with Tate. He doesn't always make the right read (he struggled a LOT in 09 with this), but he gets the ball in there, reads the D and gives or pulls it in a pretty uniform pattern to make it hard on the defense. The problem is he's a mobile passer but not a dynamic runner like Denard.

Assuming he doesnt transfer. This kid showed he can't play 4 quarters...Not in the big ten at least.

I get that Laces is a skunkbear and we can/should pour the haterade on him for that reason alone. Having said that, he did rack up 100 yards on the ground in roughly 1 half of play.

Granted, he also got hurt, and him getting hurt isn't a pattern, it's an actual process...because it happens FAR too often to be simply noted as a pattern.

...but again, the little dude got 100 yards on the ground...against our defense. And that just isn't easy to do. It doesn't make him Heisman worthy, but still, it's a notable accomplishment.

Now, I don't know how much he'll improve next year, but I've gotta believe he's at least improve somewhat. The problem is, it might not matter how much he improves unless he Barwis's up and gets to the point where he can take the punishment. And if he ever DOES get bigger, does that detract from his shifty-ness? Kind of a catch-22 there.

Look, Robinson is a not a big guy and several of our "jumbo packages with worse attitude than your grandmother" gave him a fond "how's yo' momma". I saw at least five big hits and then he began to shy away from contact big time. I think that they hurt him big time and that he quit. If you watched when he was showing RichRod the hand, he had to hold it up and show it to him, and RichRod was looking at it hard, because the swelling wasn't prominent.

He quit. Not saying I wouldn't have done the same thing getting pounded like that, but he quit.
