I guess comments about the stunning similarity of I Been Workin' on the Railroad and The Eyes of Texas are upon You are exceedingly offensive to Shaggy. Thanks to Ulukin and ORD for lending me greenies, but the post has been sent to couch fire heaven.
Very limited range of music in the Big Whatever - Oklahoma has to use Yale's Boola, Boola, Texas steals Workin' on the Railroad and Big Whatever wannabe SMU uses She'll be Comin' Round the Mountain.
Nah, I just find it funny that they go apeshit over THE Ohio State University and dotting the i, but have incredibly thin skin regarding their own traditions - but what do you expect from a school whose green is surrounded by statues of CSA generals?I have practically no rep power, but if there's any other humorous material I'll do what little I can to keep you in the green.
One of the more surprising examples of a school co-opting a popular tune for their fight song has always been, to me, UGa's fight song based on The Battle Hymn of The Republic.I guess comments about the stunning similarity of I Been Workin' on the Railroad and The Eyes of Texas are upon You are exceedingly offensive to Shaggy. I rarely laugh out loud at internet crap, but this made me LOL. I will use these talking points today at work with my Texas Tech and A&M co-workers.What kills me about the shag is how, to the very core of their souls, they believe that everyone worships Texas and dreams of living there. I explained it to a UT grad in Chicago as to how the rest of the country really sees Texas.
Houston: a complete [Mark May]hole; the worst big city in America
Dallas: nicer than Houston but just a big, bland, sprawling, monotonous generic city. A larger Minneapolis but without the cultural institutions--sorry, rodeo museums and Presidential assassination sites don't count.
San Antonio: Is that still part of America?
Austin: cool. Nobody denies that, but it's viewed as an island of cool floating in a sea of [Mark May].
Small Town Texas: this is where black people get dragged to death behind pickup trucks, right?
This didn't go over well.

Not even a contest. I went to a Tech SMU game in Lubbock and had brisket which was good...but their face when I said that I have had better in Ohio was worth my weight in gold. HahahahaAnd Carolina has better bbq!

Austin: Use to be... and it still is to visit... but this shit is getting out of control. too many fucking people, the downtown now looks like Houston or Dallas Downtown with all the high rises, roads are basically a parking lot, dumbass politicians, fuckin greedy organization, I pay more in property tax that I do in mortgage . I've lived here for almost 10 years... I dont know that I can say i'll be living here in another 10.What kills me about the shag is how, to the very core of their souls, they believe that everyone worships Texas and dreams of living there. It's different. Its difficult to compare them for me, having lived in the South most of my life.... I love me some pull pork and I love me some brisket done right.... Brisket is harder to cook but when done right its pretty damn good. And Carolina has better bbq!
