Shaggy Texas - Shaggy Bevo, Thujone, MS Pain, Butt Hurt, and BBQ (RIP)

 that was #1 a few hours ago.... Btw apparently Chip is his own worst enemy. Per the local news, Mack was going to retire told some people, then when it leaked he got pissed and said "fuck it, I'm staying" God Bless you Mack Brown you magnificent Bastard

Mack has to know his time is coming. You'd think he'd take the graceful exit, rather than getting ridden out of town on a rail. Texas has been ready for Mack to go well before this season. If he didn't pull out a miracle against OU, he most likely would have been fired no questions asked.

Yeah, gotta admit his first 10 or so years at Texas were pretty good, but then again it shouldn't be hard to win at Texas. You're talking the most cash, great recruiting, and it's not like the Big XII is known for defense like the B1G. Stoops has done well there for a long time simply because his defenses aren't completely inept and they often run a balanced offense.

That's what they keep telling themselves. That if they just get the right coach, it's going to be top 3 every year. History says differently. Texas was irrelevant for a quarter century before getting on track in 2004 and had become the coaching graveyard of college football Also, it took Mack six years before he got them on track, and they only stayed there for that six year window before slipping into irrelevance.

And for anyone who's ever had a problem with why our trustees and big money donors seem a little aloof of the football program and wished they were more connected to it, just take a look at that shitstorm at UT with the "cigars."

So to put Mack's last four years (you know, the one's that are so terrible that they've ruined UT football) into historical perspective for the university.

After choking the 1977 national championship away against Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl through 2003 (2004 was Mack's first BCS bowl season), Texas was 204-102 an exact .667 winning percentage with six losing seasons sprinkled thoughout the 26 years or just a hair less than one every four years.

Now compare that to Mack's last four years. After losing the NC game to Alabama, Mack has gone 30-20 for a .600 winning percentage with one losing season out of four.

That is much more in line with their recent historical norm than the six year window of national relevance from 2004 to 2009, yet Tejas fan has zero doubt that 04-09 is their god given destiny.
