last year i took a lot of junk for saying its not diebler or turner, that together i thought theyd mix well. its looking that way. heres to hoping they both continue to improve this year.
I can't remember you ever making that philosophical statement last year:biggrin:

Tough game vs ND on Saturday.....picked up two quick fouls......sat most of the first half and never really got into rythm.........1-7....0-5 from downtown.......just 2 points and 2 rebounds in 20 minutes........Diebs did hit a critical bucket late in the second half when needed........he still looked confident.....the shots just were not falling......that happens.

Incredible performance by Jon last night, but everyone that saw the game, and was still sober, commented in the game thread. :oh:

:io:Loved Jon's moxy last night. You could see in his eyes that he wanted to take those big shots down the stretch. We so need that.

On a side note, I thought it was interesting that the announcers said the coaches made a DVD of JJ Reddick for Jon this summer. I've always imagined Jon having a game like JJs. Never really thought it would materialize watching Jon his freshman year, but after seeing him catch and shoot last night....maybe, just maybe he can develop that kind of shooting consistency. What a weapon.

Now that was the guy who I saw playing his high school ball during the state tournament. The kid can shoot and there is no doubt about it. He reminded me of JJ Reddick when I saw his range in high school. Hopefully, he will be able to continue his shooting because we desperately need his points.

Is Deibler becoming the leader that we need?
I have noticed that he looks to make plays.

Leadership qualities in an athlete are highly desired by coaches in all variety of sport. Whether they are inherent or come with experience, it is essential to have an athlete with the ability to lead by example on and off the court.
Over the last year, Ohio State sophomore guard Jon Diebler has come to grasp what his role is on a team that only has a handful of members with NCAA experience. He has not only worked on his ability to perform on the court during the off season, but also worked on his leadership skills.

?I put a lot of focus on becoming a better teammate, so I can help everyone around me get better,? Diebler said. ?We?re a young team this year with a lot of newcomers, so it is important for me to step up and be a leader for this team.?

That is good to see...It seems we are starting to come together a little more after losing Lighty to injury...It just took a while to figure out our roles...

What I really liked from Diebler in the HBU game was his 8 assists...We had 25 in the game to 10 turnovers and Diebler was the main part of it...

Jon has established himself as one of the top two 3-point threats in the Big Ten and consequently one of the top 3-point shooters nationally. He's the #1 reason why OSU is in position to have their best 3-point percentage season under Matta, right now the team is shooting 37.4% on 3s. If he makes 16 more 3s this season, something that I think is likely, he will end up with the second-most made 3s in a season for an OSU player (Scoonie Penn has the #2 spot with 88 3s right now and Jon is at 73 after the PSU game).
