SG Jon Diebler (2nd-Most Big Ten career 3-Pointers, Butler Recruiting Director)

Matta was in attendance to see him break the record...

What a great accomplishment and the only thing the kid said after the game was we are getting ready for tournaments and our team was excited to win the conference...

Here it the video after the game with him, and a couple highlights from the game.

Diebler becomes Ohio's all-time prep scoring leader

2/23/2007, 10:36 p.m. ET The Associated Press
UPPER SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP) ? With a simple layup on Friday night, Upper Sandusky's Jon Diebler became Ohio's all-time prep scoring leader.
The 6-foot-7 senior, who has signed to play college ball at Ohio State, hit a layup to break the existing mark of 2,958 points set by New Concord John Glenn's Jay Burson from 1981-85. The shot came with 2:51 left on the clock and brought him to 44 points in the game ? one more than he needed to break the record.

Diebler raises state scoring record; Upper Sandusky claims NOL outright
By Mike Genet

UPPER SANDUSKY ? Jon Diebler got to take home a plaque Friday night, courtesy of the OHSAA for breaking Ohio?s all-time scoring mark.

But more importantly ? to Diebler, his dad/coach and teammates ? Upper Sandusky will have another Northern Ohio League trophy in the school?s case.

The Rams polished off a 17-3 regular season (13-1 NOL) and earned the outright NOL title with a 90-64 victory over Norwalk. That was the main goal on Diebler?s mind, even though the victory was secure long before his record-breaking layup with 2:51 left the in the game.
Continued;

What a night. The gym was electric all over. Everyone wanted Jon to break the record and they went wild. It was absolutely great especially since Jay Burson was there along with Coach Matta.
Jon is a special player. Congratulations.
