BELLEVUE -- Most people in attendance at last night's Northern Ohio League matchup between Upper Sandusky and Bellevue were there for one reason. To see Jon Diebler.

The crowd got what they came for as Diebler put up 69 points. But it was the host Redmen who got what they wanted with a 93-90 win courtesy of D.J. Whinnery's buzzer-beating 3-pointer.

Diebler, who scored all 26 of the Rams' fourth-quarter points, drained a 3 from the corner with two defenders draped all over him with 17 seconds left. With the score knotted at 90, Bellevue worked the clock down and Whinnery let it fly with just one second left. When the ball fell through the bottom of the net, the Redmen fans stormed the court and mobbed the entire Redmen team to celebrate the second win in as many years over the Rams at Bellevue.

Cont'd...

It's truly amazing how much Diebler has carried that team this season. Without him, Upper would be a sub .500 team. FWIW, I've got to give kudos to the kid from Bellevue (D.J. Whinnery) who hit the game winner last night. He's my good buddy's brother in law, so props go out to him. Oh, and props also go out to Diebler and his 69 points. :)

not seeing it in the post, but i went to youtube for it. nice find. awesome. i'm getting goosebumps watching him. the arc means nothing. he's just as happy shooting from five feet behind it. unconscious shooting. how he's not a 5-star is beyond me. ehh... whatever. our opponents won't know what hit them.

I know it has been mentioned b4 but he has one of the purest strokes I have ever seen...
i can't help but believe that jay is thinking that jon is just the type of player he'd want passing him. small town boys. coaches' sons. tenacious and unconscious shooters.

damn, i miss seeing jay in the scarlet and grey.

Having read this before watching the video really made me laugh while viewing it. He will pull from ANYWHERE.

I didn't see a lot of spot up shooting there. It seems that he gets the defender to back off him a lot, then steps back for the three - which is impressive at the high school level. But he's going to be a spot-up shooter at State.

His stroke is ridiculous.

If he can shoot that damn good off the dribble I don't see any reason why he will just be a spot-up shooter as long as the shots are within rhythm of the offense and not forced shots, like some of his shots in high school can be due to the fact that he is the man, but here he will have plenty of other options to pass to that will also be able to score...

I just hope the kid eats them weights in the offseason and can make a big splash next season...
