Good to see this situation get closure and now he can move on.....he made a mistake and it is time to put it to bed.

Anyone know if Matta plans to impose any additional penalties (i.e. run extra laps in practice, game suspension, etc.)?

In-house punishment is always the toughest to get info on...but I'd have to think David has already served his penance with Thad...if there was any.

? Impressions from USA Basketball U-19 assistant coach Bruiser Flint of Drexel were right in line with those from the Fran Fraschilla column on ESPN.com.
The biggest surprise has been Ohio State's David Lighty, a player who Flint said just simply fits. He has been a hit with the coaches in his ability to fill a variety of roles. The expectation is that Lighty should have a breakout season with the Buckeyes with the departures of Ron Lewis, Ivan Harris and Daequan Cook.

I read the box score, and I noticed that David went from being near the bottom in minutes and coming off the bench, all the way up to starting and playing the most minutes of anyone on the team. When his shot comes around, he'll be a star. He'll be an Alondo Tucker type player, except he'll be good at defense. He might not be as strong as Tucker, but he's taller(by at least an inch IIRC) and more athletic, which will more than make up for it.

If anyone has seen David in highschool, they can tell you what type of scorer Lighty can be. He's great driving, he just needs to get more consistent with his shot.

David Scores well in the game and for the coaches.
Article;

"I think it was good for us to have a tighter game, we?re still mixing and matching out there. I was really encouraged with the play of Matt Bouldin; certainly David Lighty and Patrick Beverley have been so solid throughout this whole tournament; and it was also good to see Deon Thompson play strong, he played really, really well too," said USA mentor Jerry Wainwright.

We will have a lock down defensive type player at all 3 levels again this season. Butler out front, Lighty on the wings and Hunter down low. If the other pieces fill in and play their respective roles, we could be in for another special season.

USA Basketball

U19 USA basketball OFFICAL play began yesterday, everything to this point has been scrimmage games.

In the first game USA beat Mali 118-56
David shot 0-0, had 3 rebounds, 3 fouls, and 6 minutes of play.
Team USA plays Team China today, hopefully David can get some more minutes in this game, as his 6 minutes was the least amount of anyone on the team.
